If you're not looking to spend much and I would go with the Onkyo 705. There are a few issues with the Onkyo's though. Mainly lip sync. I originally purchased the 805 then returned it a week later because of the lip sync issue. I tried all fixes for it and at the end of the day it was still there and annoying to me. I ended up with the 3808CI and could not be happier. The 705 is still a great receiver though.

Can somebody verify this? I'm actually going to pick up some 1.3 cables from Monoprice anyway (I've been brainwashed from this site) mostly because I love the fact that they come in 1.5' lengths. I would still like to know if the existing (yes, Monster) cables that I have are 1.3. Is there a way to check them? They're not the most current ones as shown on the Monster site, probably about a year old. Thanx.

Err...correct me if I am wrong, but I think 1.3 refers to the version of the HDMI port and not the cable.

Another receiver to consider is the Yahmaha 663. If 2 HDMI inputs are ok then look at that one.

I'm going through receiver college too

I saw a lot of neg. reviews on Best-Buy & Circuit City about how certain receivers were not what they thought after purchase.

Is it safe to say,

"HDMI pass through BAD"

"Full HDMI input GOOD"

The fine print must say "full HDMI input"

Thanks
