Gamma levels on the 360 tend to be very high, much higher than standard. I'd say its a preset gamma issue and not a brightness one.

Aliasing is the jagged edges you see.

Anti-aliasing is a procedural attempt to 'smooth' the jaggies to more closely approximate the shape they're trying to be.

This is a pretty good demonstration of applying different levels of antialiasing.

Just compared the 'No AA', '2x AA' and '4x AA' on the same card model.

it seems like ign always gives crap reviews to ps3 versions even if they are practically the same game. perfect example is lost planet. they gave it crap reviews because they said that its a crappy port. but gameinformer says its the SAME game with same graphics...hmmm sombody is lying

I'll wait until the side by side comparison before I make up my mind which version to get.

If you have a PS3, by all means get the PS3 version. Unless you want to pay for exclusive episodic content for a game that already has over 100 hours of gameplay, I think you'll be more than pleased with the PS3 for this type of game. Side by Side comparisons, like most others have stated, are never done with the best possible representation in mind. In most cases, they are done for fanboy/subscriber bait.

I meant actually renting the game for each of the consoles and doing it that way. Hands on side by side.

The new EGM has an big article on GTA IV and an interview with Rockstar's founder. He seems really excited about what they have been working on and trying out with the episodic content, so I am likely to get the 360 version. He does mention that the PS3 version will make use of the SixAxis, but refuses to say how (the article if full of the writer mentioning awesome stuff both in the core game and online that he is forbidden to mention in print). Anyway, it's a really good read. Sounds like both versions should be quite good.

I am going to wait for further details on both versions. If it has multiplayer I will most likely go with the 360 version because I have more friends on LIVE. If there are some serious issues with the 360 version, I will go with the PS3 version.

And I guess you didn't read where IGN said the PS3 version has less aliasing issues. Therefore PS3 version > 360 version.

But But But But But But..... because the XBox 360 version has downloadble missions, and I can show all my friends my accomplishments, and and and because IGN and G4TV are going to give it better reviews, the XBox version is better.

I mean seriously guys, Rockstar got paid $50,000,000 to create some downloadble missions for XBox, in a game that has already been quoted as having over 100 hours of gameplay. Do you really expect anyone from Rockstar to express anything but excitement over the ability to roll around in 50,000,000 dollars while all they have to do is create some new missions on an engine already built, with programmers already accustomed to the game and architecture? And is anyone here honestly going to lay down $9.99+ (err whatever that translates to in Microsoft Bucks) for some extra missions when the game already takes an eternity to beat?

I guess Microsoft really has crafted the perfect business model between Live and hemmoraging cash for bleak exclusive stuff. It seems like people with both a 360 and PS3 hear the word "exclusive," cream their pants, and immediately rush out to get the 360 version, regardless of what that entails. It's kind of like Oblivion. Oblivion runs better, looks better, and cuts loading times in half on the PS3. But if you ask an XBox person, that DLC that the PS3 mostly got skimped out on makes the 360 infinitely better. Please.

content > slightly more aliasing

always

if you're talking about massive levels of jaggies, then that's another story of course, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.

Lol...so true...

And by more aliasing they probably mean .00000000000000001%

Pathetic...

The bottome line here is that the game is gonna be good regardless of the system its on...

However the 360 version is going to be a better experience just because of the added content. And IF it has online then of course the 360 version gets even better cuz of Live.

And b4 the ps3 fanboys start ranting and raving about the lil kiddies on live remember that you have your own personal friends list....not to meniton all it takes is a click of a button to turn off an annoying member.

It's going to be a good game no matter what system you have. Sure the people with both systems are going to have a hard choice. If they want the exclusive content then Xbox 360 is the one, if not then whichever system you prefer to play on.

too man broad comments.

How much extra content does the 360 REALLY have? How good will it be? Will you even notice it compared to the 100hrs of the standard game?

Im not saying that extra content isnt a big selling point. But assuming extra content is better than AA is wrong. Then again, we need to see just how much better the AA actually is.

I'd rather have a better quality experience over a longer experience for more expense.

But I would have bought the PS3 version anyway. I'd rather support the future of PlayStation.
