The first Avengers movie.

Everybody was so into it, one of the best audiences I’ve ever been a part of

Friday the 13ths back in the 80s. People just hootin and hollerin. Before the movies would start, high scool shout battles. Peeps just up and smokin when the lights went down. Places were just packed back then.

Last Night at the Alamo Grindhouse
To mark the closure of the original location of the Alamo Drafthouse Downtown Austin TX. Tarantino organized a three-night mini-festival in May 2007. I got to watch two nights of movies(6 movies) with Tarantino from his own private collection. I had to miss the last night and fly back home. It was pretty neat to hear him talk about each movie and where he was when he first saw them and the history of the films themselves. He would chill inbetween films and chat with people.

Star Wars Celebration 2015 in California. Waited 14 hours in line to see the World Premiere of the trailer for The Force Awakens with the cast introducing it. Felt like I was on some kind of weird drug from the excitement and staying up all night geeking out in line with other Star Wars fans.

Opening night of Return of the Jedi. I was 7 and visiting my uncle. Laws must have been more lax then cause I remember people sitting in the aisle and standing up in the back watching it. It was so packed and everyone was so into it. Waiting for Vaders helmet to come off....people was going nuts.

Saw Star Wars A New Hope on a re-release sometime in the early 80's late 70's. First movie I remember seeing in the theater. My mom and her friend took me. I still have hazy memories of seeing and feeling excited during the trash compactor scene, Luke swing with Leia, R2, and the Death Star exploding. Certainly gave me a love of film.

Watching the documentary Best Worst Movie, followed by a showing of Troll 2 from an actual film print at a N.C. film festivel. Also watching David Gordon Green's film George Washington with Green there doing a Q & A with the cast and crew. The kids from the film where all grown up now talking about the film and where they are now. Strangley actress Andi MacDowell was just sitting in the audience watching as well in front of us.

Talking my grandmother into taking me and my cousin to see Robocop in 1987. I was 11 and my cousin was 12. She wanted to watch The Living Daylights or Snow White on a release. We told her Robocop was about a good Robot that stopped people from smoking and litering. He was a good guy who went around helping people. Made it out to be this family film. I will never forget the look on her face when the F bombs was droping and Murphy was getting blown to bits. She kept saying I dont think we should be watching this, but we stayed for the whole thing. Ha

While watching Childs Play 3 a guy brought in his very young kids. If i would have guessed like 4 and 6 year old. Guess he thought it was a kids film, because when Chucky showed up and started cussing and killing the dad grabbed both his kids under his arms and ran with them out of the theater.

Man I got too many I cant pick one and I could keep going.

I would say when I saw Prometheus in a theater with two of my best friends in the best theater in Victoria.

The Dark Knight in an actual IMAX, the truck Tumbler chase holy crap.

I saw Sin City for a third time for the third time, I was the only one in the theater.

Seeing Jurassic Park as a kid with my family. That was special since there wasn't anything close visually or special effects wise that I had seen in any movie.

The Sixth Sense. It was a good crowd and that was the first time I remember being "jumpy" and creeped out in a theater. To this day I've never heard so many people gasping and screaming in a movie. I never saw the
[Show spoiler]twist coming. That blew me away.

Arachnophobia was also really fun. I felt spiders crawling up my legs the entire movie.

Japan Yeah, I'm a fan.

Before I even clicked here, I wondered when someone would bring up scoring with a date. Didn't take long at all.

All-time best: Godzilla: Final Wars red-carpet world premiere at Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.

Godzilla (2014) Thursday night opening in Imax. The Imax countdown was accompanied not by the usual music, but by Godzilla's roar. It was bone-chilling. Still makes me shake with excitement just thinking about it. I hope they do it again for the sequels.

Sticking with the Big G, some of the crazy shit Shin Godzilla did left me awestruck. Especially when he finally unleashes his atomic ray. Good God, the scale and power of it. Literally .

I still think the Star Wars marathon leading up to The Force Awakens is my favorite, but I saw a double feature of Blade Runner and Blade Runner 2049 that was amazing too. I saw it in a theater with amazing sound. When Deckard shoots Zhora, the blast was so loud I almost dove into the floor.

I saw Scream the second weekend in what was for all intents and purposes a sold-out theater (like maybe a handful of empty seats). It was wild. People were screaming and laughing and totally blown-away. It was just so much damned fun.

Totally crazy.

Cloud Atlas at the BFI IMAX on opening night will be a hard one to top for me. The way people described seeing 2001, Star Wars and The Matrix for the first time in the theatre and being completely overwhelmed with joy was exactly how I felt after the credits rolled. Seems like I was the only one though.

Seeing Kingdom of the Crystal Skull with my Dad would be a close second.

Blade Runner: The Final Cut & The Hateful Eight in 70MM, Mad Max: Fury Road and Blade Runner 2049 in IMAX and a 35MM print of Magnolia were all remarkable experiences too.

Most definitely Return Of The Jedi in 1983.

I was only a little kid back then. I never heard of Star Wars before so it was my very first SW movie. Also it was only my second time going to the theater, with E.T. being the first. It was so unbelievably overwhelming, I still remember it today. It has made an everlasting impression on me. That's when my SW craze started and that is also why ROTJ is my favorite SW film.

Cloverfield was another unbelievable experience. I knew nothing of the movie beforehand so I went in the cinema with a blank mind. I was blown away by it. The found footage format made sure I was living the movie instead of just watching it.

Other great cinema experiences: Independance Day, Desperado, Resident Evil Afterlife 3D, The Final Destination 3D, Hard Target, The Sixth Sense and The Last Exorcism.

Godzilla 2014 is up there for me, even though the film is blah the crowd was electric. There were 3 Asian girls sitting next to me and when Godzilla charged up his radioactive breath for the first time the 3 of them lost their minds...it was pretty awesome to see how excited they got.

The climax to Jurassic World was pretty much the reason theater was invented. What an awesome thing to see on the big screen and the crowd ate up every second of it.

Oh yeah Cloverfield is a great choice too. Also the first Transformers movie, all people were talking about afterwards walking out of the theater was the secretive trailer before Transformers, which we all know turned out to be for Cloverfield. Great memories there.

The one that stick out to me the most is seeing Snakes on a Plane the night before it opened. It was such an epic experience bordering on a full on party atmosphere.
It was an experience that I'll never forget.

Over the past few years, that's probably my most rewatched movie. That last act is absolutely everything I want in a summer action movie.
