Default I called my local walmarts and they had at least one on order

at each store I called but they couldn't verify exactly when they would get them in. I simply gave the upc mel mentioned and they were able to find it.

Actually I don't think so. I had the 5000 combo player for a month and it would only bitstream THD in 2 channels.

Default I checked with my local Best Buy

and it looks like they thought they will have this in store on May 18th. I haven't been able to confirm an exact date Walmart will have this player.

Default Never mind.

I see the answer to my own question. The better question is how many 1500's did they have?

Default thanks tim

Apparently, it may be hit or miss on whether your walmart is carrying this player. I was told by one employee that not all stores are going to be getting this player.

Default I don't know about that Paul

I was able to pick one up at a local Walmart last night. Out of about six local stores, three were getting them last night. I will post my impressions when I have a chance to test the player out but it may be a while before I am able to do so.

This is what Josh posted on April 23 on the news page:

"Samsung has announced that they will release their upcoming Blu-ray player, the Samsung BD-P1500, this June. The player, which will be a BonusView (Profile v1.1) player with a future upgrade to BD-Live (Profile v2.0), is the fourth generation Blu-ray player from the longtime Blu-ray supporter. It will be able to output 1080p24 video and decode Dolby TrueHD audio (with DTS-HD HR support to be added at a later date).

The inclusion of an Ethernet and USB port will allow the player to easily be upgraded to a BD-Live player. Price has yet to be announced for the player, but previous material has suggested an MSRP of $399."

Is the bold part correct? Does this player also decode? The specs in the player section seem to show bitstream only.

Is DTS-HD HR the same thing as DTS-MA?

And why is this going to be so cheap while the Panasonic BD-50 is like freaking $700!?!?!?

One wild guess would be because it's a Samsung.

No they are not the same.

The Pana will come 2.0 in the box and supposedly be able to internally decode all hi res audio internally.

Yeah but if you look at what that guy posted earlier this player is capable of decoding Dolby TrueHD already...

And it will be getting that other one (is it DTS-MA) later...aren't those the 2 major ones anyways?

Just doesn't make sense to me...

I'm confused. Are you talking about the Samsung or the Panasonic?
