The 2500 sends it out bitstream just like the panasonic, and the 3800 actually decodes it internally, or sends it out bitstream.

I have an opportunity to buy a 2500, but am seriously considering passing on it due to the LFE issue. If I knew that Denon was offering a firmware fix for it I'd buy it in a heartbeat! Have you heard anything about a possible fix?

Nope, but since Panasonic just fixed theirs I am assuming Denon will be fixed shortly

Received my 3800 today and, unsurprisingly, the PQ on both BD's and upconverted SD DVD's is superb - the latter even in comparison to my already damn nice Samsung 1200.

AQ is even better.... Superb detail and soundstage and it's nice to finally hear TrueHD/DTS MA on my non-HDMI 1.3 Denon AVR. No sign, BTW, of an LFE issue on this Denon model.

More as I tweak and tune and play more discs, I'm quite pleased thus far!

When compared to my 1200 and to my Toshiba DVD recorder, the tray is quite similar, except that the door, itself, is attached to the end of the tray on the Denon. I suppose one could expect a really robust tray, consistent with the rest of the unit (It's built like a tank!).

Were you able to obtain a 3800? If so, what do you think?

I managed to find two of them. the difference in picture quality is very noticeable on bd and dvd. Very happy with the purchase. What about you?

I tested this on The Green Mile at 1:39:15 and observed a split-second pause during the layer change. This is consistent with an owner in the AVS thread who reported a 1/2 second pause during LOTR's layer change.

I have been reading posts here for a very long time, having been a blu-ray supporter since the very beginning. The reason why I finally decided to register is this player. I want it.

Unfortunately, living in Denmark means that you will have to wait a decade or so longer than everyone else to get your hands on new tech stuff.

Thank God for international shipping. I have tried to google for retailers, but I can't find any. Can anyone point me to a retailer able to ship 20 pounds of metal to Denmark?

Thank you in advance.

The Denon USA website lists their authorized web-retailers. J&R Music World, Crutchfield, One Call are a few. There are others. You would have to check with them about shipping overseas.

The 3800 does decode DTS-HD/MA and Dolby TrueHD internally, and outputs the resultant audio via analog out or PCM/HDMI. I am hooked up via analog and have no problems... incredible PQ and AQ (AQ is simply awesome).

Users sending PCM from the unit have reported that the 3800 does currently exhibit the "LFE bug" of the 5dB drop in LFE channel output. As stated, Panasonic has corrected this with a firmware update, and Denon is expected to issue a firmware update to correct this and a few other identified problems within a week or two.

Great player.

Great. Are you on 5.1 or 7.1. Also advise speaker configuration and audio settings.
Thanks

Nice to see you posting here, Lee. Don't know how I've missed 50 prior posts.

OT, I checked out your website. Remind me not to piss you off.
