I would have to say The Exorcist: The Unrated version. This one part in the movie that really gave me the creeps was when: Reagan got off her bed and did the spider walk down the stairs and blood came out of her mouth.

Second, Pet Sematary gave me the creeps just by looking at the ugly character with the back problem named Zelda

Third movie that gave me the creeps was The Shining. The movie still does give me the creeps when I watch alone in the dark.

Please just choose one

Which do you consider to be the scariest movie ever?

Why do we have to choose what YOU think is the scariest?? Why not just ask what we think is the scariest??? I don't see The Blairwitch Project on your list.

I heard about that story. Rumors say it took place sometime in the 1950's. In The Grip Of Evil, huh? I'll check it out.

The Exorsism of Emily Rose scared the SHIT out of me when I saw that in the theatres.... But I voted for American Warewolf in London. The scene in the tunnel... Best scene in a horror film EVER.

This is my first post here, I voted for The Shining because I think supernatural movies are better than slasher/gore movies anyday. I've had enough experiences in real life with paranormal stuff, so it really is more effective. Another favorite of mine is What Lies Beneath, great actors, chilling scenes and Michelle Pfeiffer in that red dress I also love to watch Sleepy Hollow when October comes around and I can open the windows and let the fall air come in, kinda adds another dimension to the movie!

Good picks and welcome! My fear fest movies are already mentioned here, but I will add "In the Mouth of Madness".

BTW, I saw Alien opening night with no idea what I was getting myself into. OMG!!! Walking back to my car in the dark after the movie finished was quite the experience. +1.

Welcome, bartlettphoto!
I just watched BWP on HD yesterday and DID see it in the theater. The acting and esp the diologue is amazingly realistic given their situation. For me it isn't the creepiest movie or even comes close to it, but there is a strong element of realism to the film which does add to the fear factor meter. A well made movie for it's intent. It does work.

Yeah, they made the actors actually camp out in the woods for days and days to get some realism. I remember trying to find holes in the story and I thought I had one when I said "There is no way they have enough power for all that filming" Then when I watched it again.... and I caught where Heather says" we have enough battery power to....." I just thought it was a unique and very mthodical movie. Pure genius!!!

.....and come on! When Heather is in the tent on like the 3rd or 4th night...looking into the camera and she's like "omg wtf is that?" .....while the cackle is in the backround! That was creepy and gave me chills!! Love that movie!!

Yup! That was a fine moment. Don't leave the tent FGS!!! But nooooooooooooo. They have to go prancing thru the woods in the dark calling out for missing Josh and giving away their position making them a target. Love the very stupid. If they are so dumb and should thereby be cleansing out the gene pool, why do I always care? But I do. Go figure....

I like to come to this site to talk movies in the company of other fans. Posts like this make me think I'm all alone. The Original TCM is my favourite horror movie by a mile.
