yes if you didnt manuall adjusted the settings yourself. i think its the same with the 801. just a little different because the 801 didnt have hdmi, just multi analog in. but the hdmi is able to handle bitstream and pcm

IF IM WRONG PLEASE SOMEONE SAY SO!

give a try with 'Pure Audio' mode.

You may like it. It should only be used if you're using HDMI for video as well.

I am using HDMI, but from what I understand, the PURE AUDIO mode is an East-of-the-Atlantic kind of feature. Course, as always, I reserve the right to make myself look like an idiot.

From the 605 manual:

"[PURE AUDIO] button (not North American models)"

Does the feature actually exist on the 705 and up (for North American models)?

Maybe it's like that weird light-switch in your garage that doesn't seem to affect anything...

like i said, havent used it yet so i just ran to it in a panic popped a cd in and played it. it works. the button isnt for show and its a brighter more eye piercing blue than the knob. i like this feature on the 801 and glad they still use it

onkyo needs to change the site.

remember, you can use that mode for movies too. But your video has to be through HDMI.

"This button selects the Pure Audio listening mode.
When this mode is selected, the AV receiver’s display
is turned off and only the HDMI OUT outputs
video signals
."

the receiver display shuts itself off, and video is output from HDMI.
