Try e-bay, my Sony's MSRP was $1299, got it for $799 shipped. Brand new in box. Probably not as safe a bet as crutchfield... but much cheaper

The price savings alone is worth the risk. If you have a seller with a good rating, S/B no problem. Just be sure to buy insurance when shipping. When was the last time you ever had a receiver go out on you anyway as far as needing an authorized dealer. Take a chance and save!

That's what I figured, and if it came to it, still save $500 that I could probably pay to have it repaired if nothin else.

True, but I have had multiple receivers. Given older ones to relatives, family. They are all still working. Not a lot of moving parts to screw up with. Receivers just keep pluggin away.

The guy I bought from had a 30,000 rating so there are plenty of businesses on there to trust. Just make sure you aren't getting ripped off with an import. (unless you can read Japanese)

Go in and bid last second, about 100 bucks higher than the current price and see what happens.
