I agree it requires disclaimers before viewing:
"WARNING: The whole point of the movie was to kill off the entire ensemble cast, especially the expensive actors, because it was taking them longer and more money to contract Halle Berry, Hugh Jackman and Ian McKellen to be in the same movie, and they wanted to get to those cheap-new-character and solo spinoffs as soon as possible."

With this realization out of the way, I rather liked it--
That's only because I'd thought X2 was a bit too Bryan-Singer-gay...A nice social "tease" in X1, but "Bobby's coming-out" in #2 fairly rubbed the audiences' face in it.
The franchise needed a little changeup breath of hetero, just for variety.

And taking it as Brett Ratner "Can anyone ELSE direct it?" audition, um, think he passed:
There's a lot more action and less Pride-parading--and darnit, Kelsey Grammer IS Beast, I didn't think he could do it! ...If it weren't for the movie's primary Job-One of rushing the characters to their final write-offs as quickly as possible, before we've even had time to blink.
Still, it's a pretty good glimpse at What Could've Been.

Great audio quality, okay picture quality. The DTS-HD MA soundtrack is insane. The movie itself is the worst of the trilogy and doesn't really do the "Dark Phoenix" storyline justice.

You can't really, unless you bring in the Starjammers and the M'Kraan Crystal and all that Sci-Fi.

For a more down to earth adaption along the lines of the first two movies, it was great in my opinion.

Besides, they finally gave me my favorite X-Character, Beast. And so well done in both make-up and acting.

While I was initially hesitant to the idea of casting Kelsey Grammer, his performance was wonderful.

And frankly, I'd never thought they could do a plausible live-action Juggernaut...

The idea was so no-brainer, when I'd first heard the casting rumor, I'd literally thought it was some lame fan-fakie (ie., by some Simpsons fanboy who associated the first Frasier/Sideshow Bob voice he could think of...)

But, no, Kelsey nails Hank McCoy to absolute comic-canon--
Right down to the "Stars and garters", and even the "Literary quotes in the middle of battle" trademark.

It was ok. I watched it once, and have no plans to watch it again. To me, it wasn't done as well as the first 2. But rent it and if you like it, buy it.

So glad they cut out Beast breaking a neck though.

I would have been pissed with the director if they kept that.

When you compare The Last Stand to Spiderman 3 you'll see that it could have been WAY WORSE.

An earlier poster hit the nail on the head when he talked about the contracts and the price/time associated with these movies. It took them forever to get some of the major actors to sign on for X-2 and The Last Stand. Not to mention their HUGE salaries and the time it took to produce these movies.

That to me is the ONLY legitimate reason as to why they killed off my beloved Cyclops AND Professor X.

That along with the lack of Jubilee really disappointed me.

Spiderman 3 on the other hand is by far the worst movie in the Spiderman trilogy for a million reason the least of which is "Emo Peter Parker".

I'm gonna buy the movie (the complete box set) but only because its part of series and the PQ/AQ is excellent apparently.

In short Spiderman 3 and the entire Harry Potter movies are under the list of movies that I title "Never Existed". I just pretend like they were never made and I manage to not break something when I think about the character/story as a whole.

I also read they killed off those characters because of schedule conflicts - but that may not be true. They may have had other schedules because they knew they would not be tied up with X3 long. Besides, most characters did not really technically die. Not in the comic sense . Prof X transfered bodies and Scott's body was never found. However, considering there is not X4 planned it was a weird way to end the "trilogy". I still am not sure why they had all these "budget and time restrictions" when the first two movies made way more money than expected - and did very well in the box office.

X-Men: The Last Stand...is a bad movie, it's not "Batman and Robin" bad, but it's not up to the standards of the first two. My biggest gripe is that if you have Dark Phoenix in a movie you don't have her play second fiddle to Magneto!!!!!! You have one of the most powerful beings in the world, and you put her on a tag team with Magneto??!!!! She doesn't need anybody because she is just that bad ass!!!!! If she wanted to she could think the earth out of exsistence. I mean you ain't gotta follow the comic verbatim, but damn!!!!!! This is the Phoenix!!!!!!

James Mardsen was already signed to Superman Returns when they decided to push it through, and so he had limited availability

Watch through the end credits, and how many times has Prof X died in the comics? At least twice I believe

I didn't notice any scene where Venom was involved in a sexual way with another man.

Is this a deleted scene I missed somewhere or something? I've watched the movie a couple times.

I personally enjoyed X3. A lot of people who liked the first two will bash it, but I thought it was a good follow up. Not afraid to kill off some main characaters was nice, but I would expect that some of them may return if there is ever an X4. There is a dramatic loss of charcter development in favor of ramped up action. While this isn't a huge obsticle given the development of the main charaters in earlier movies, it would have been great to see some back story developed for Colossus and Kitty. I would have also liked to have seen more of the lesser seen bad guys, but overall I thought is was a good entry to the series. I'm holding off on buying it becuase I figure there will be a special edition down the road at somepoint.

By "gayest" I believe that he means "terrible," "bad," or "awful." That kind of remark, is, for some of us who are actually gay, rather offensive. But I just consider the source and let it go. Venom was not actually gay--you didn't miss anything in that regard.

i do give you that. i thought kelsey did an outstanding job as beast and pulled him off well, that is part of the reason i like it so much. i still think rogue's character could have been interchanged with jubilee and even used the same actress and nothing would have changed except the characters name

OK movie. But they did completely ruin Angel, my favorite comic character.

Yeah there was absolutely NO point to having Angel in this movie except to have the audience say, "Oh lookie...ANGEL WINGS!"

He was onscreen for like probably 5% of the movie (and I think thats stretching it).

The problem is that there are so many characters in the X-Men Universe...so many relationships and stories to be told both small and big. If they do make an XMen 4 they need to make sure that they focus on showing the relationships between the team members as well as a good movie storyline. Just don't throw random new characters in the mix and not have them interact at all with each other.
