For everybody that gets upset about the same threads popping up all the time then why post? You get tired of seeing them but you keep the thread going by posting. You don't have to post. Its really easy to ignore just like its really easy for a noobie that JUST STARTED to miss the same thread in the 30 threads on the main page. Sometimes the search function just sucks. Give the guy a break. Thank You.

WHAT F'IN BLACK BARS?!?!??! My blu-ray picture has too much grain to see black bars!!!

All kidding aside...I heard it wasn't a great movie and the way it was filmed might not translate well into blu-ray.

Anyone elses thoughts. Lots of hand held and grain in the production....

I've seen it work on one-word searches, but I think it barfs all over itselfwhen you add more words.

How might it not translate well to Blu??? I don't know that much about this stuff, but i downloaded the trailer for the movie off the Playstation 3 in 108op; and it looked fine to me, wouldn't it look the same on blue? If not why??

I am saying it again I DON'T know much about this suff, iam just saying. Iam saying it so that people that know about this stuff won't go off on me.

I haven't seen the movie but from the trailers and commercials I've seen it is filmed in a grain(y) style. If regular is grain then blu-ray will be really grainy.

omg you guys really need learn this stuff to fully understand how the whole system works...
What you saw off the PS3 trailer is NOTHING compared to what Blu can offer. The trailer was specifically designed for PS3 playback in a delivery format (mp4).
Most of the grain, color, contrast, etc... is done in post-production. Since most movies today are mastered digitally, they usually come out in perfect raw footage, unless filmed otherwise.

@RayEdwards, Blu movies are shown in their OAR, and since all hdtvs are made wide screen to support HD resolutions, Blu movies will have small blacks bar on the screen (not as bad as dvd though ). Its all done to show how the Director intended the film to look.

@mustangfun101, who told you it will have transferring problems? These companies know what they're doing. Like I said, most of the movies today are shot digitally, thus making it EASIER to transfer to high storage mediums like Blu.

Read my post again, I never said it would have "transferring problems". I said it might not translate well into blu-ray since it "looks like" from the commericals and trailers that it is filmed in a grainy format. Screw it, read what I wrote again, I shouldn't need to type it again. I also never said the "companies" didn't know what they were doing now, did I?? Really....movies are shot digitally????? I would have NEVER known that owning so many digitally shot movies on blu-ray. 300 was made grainy, (very digital by the way genius) so it is grainy on blu-ray. Some people like it and some don't. Sooooooooo, "if" Cloverfield was filmed grainy (which I made it VERY clear I hadn't seen it yet so that is why I asked the question) might it not be grainy on blu-ray?? Are you catching my sarcasm??? I'm really tossing it out there.
