it runs very smoothly, and i did not notice any graphical or other glitches. the one thing you will miss by not playing the PC version is the easy moddability. |

The PS3 port of Oblivion is outstanding. Oblivion on the PS3 proved that, if a company really tried, they could make a PS3 game better than it's 360 counterpart..Oblivion on the PS3 is better than the 360 version in every aspect.
The game itself isn't really comparable to Zelda..they have nothing in common. Zelda is a gimmicky action game(though a good game nonetheless). Oblivion is a format and generation defining RPG. You can play it for 300+ hours and still not be done. The character development system and gameplay are simply amazing. There are hundreds of quests. It's the best RPG ever, IMO. |

What people here aren't mentioning is that it does occassionally freeze, and when you do start the game up make sure to save every hour or so on a different file (I alternate between 3 save games) just in case a glitch occurs and you can't complete a quest.
There is also slight loading going from indoors to outdoors. While there is no loading screen, if you play the game long enough (6+ hours for me) and are wandering outside between the cities going to dungeons or ruins or something, you get the occassional 'loading' stutter to the game while it loads the textures for the area you are going into. Nothing major and its barely noticeable, but it is there. Other than that, once I put this game in my PS3 it didn't leave for over a month. I still haven't done more than the first couple of quests on the main story line and I've done about half the side quests. And theres still Shivering Isles... |

The main main main story revolves around gates to oblivion opening *oblivion looks alot like what you might have pictured hell to look like*, and daedra entering the world thorough these gateways, causing all kinds of trouble. The subquests are broken down in a few catergories some require membership to a guild to obtain. Fighter Guild Quests Mage Guild Quests Thiefs Guild Quests Blackhand Guild Quests *assassin* Knights of the Nine *Crusader Quests* Random People quests (people walk up to you and give these) Conversation Quests (launched by having conversations with characters) Event Quests (These quests are started by you either seeing something, like a unread spirit wondering around or by another action of the player like finding a very special root) You can also explore the country side raiding caves and ruins, you can purchase house, horses and if you perform the knights of the nine get your own set of crusaders... Fun game fun game... |

I have on Xbox, and looks gorgegous! Supposed to look a tad better on PS3 from what I hear and the load times are supposed to eb faster too. I have clocked almost 300 hours on the game, haven't hit max level yet, completed the main story line, havent started either of the two expansion storylines yet, but have completed almsot all guilds. The game is what you make of it. I can be easy, or complex, you dao a lot missions, or just the maingame missions, there really aren't any kind of Zelda puzzles per se. Hack up the dungeon, get loot, move to next dungeon. Sometimes you have to find a key switch to open a gate, but thats the worst of it.

The game is pretty good. I got the 360 version (regular) when it came out and downloaded all the extras.
Never completed it as there's a lot to do and each time I go back, I quit. Guess I'm not in the mood. Most frustrating part of the game? When you need to buy something at the store and it's nighttime, so everyone is sleeping. ![]() Meet me at midnight . . . |

There is some graphics slowdown in PS3's Oblivion, but it's fairly minor. While I wish every game ran at a constant 60fps, it's just not going to happen, especially with a port. It plays fairly smoothly, but its nowhere close to perfect.
That being said, the load times aren't bad and the visuals are amazing. You'd be hard pressed to get the same performance out of most gaming PCs. Regarding the comments of glitches, etc. I've logged over 100 hours on this game with no problems other than very rare gfx tearing. There are some bugs in this game (all platforms) which are well documented in the UESP wiki and are avoidable. The game is tremendously fun, but there really is too much to do. You could easily spend 200 hours exploring dungeons without even starting on the main storyline or quests. It's kind of like "here's a big giant world, go do whatever the hell you like, oh yeah and here's a little story on the side" Last edited by Thegide; 03-27-2008 at 05:07 PM. |

Friend of mine is playing Oblivion again and this time he swears he'll finish (right). I think he's logged about 100ish hours since coming back and finished the main quest and some side stuff. There's still all the add-on content to do. One thing is for sure. After playing Oblivion and seeing all you get for $60, you'll feel like every game after that is holding out and milking you. ![]() |

If your pc is up to speed, I'd recommend getting Oblivion for it. Mods really increase the enjoyment factor for me and fix some significant quibbles I had with the game. I wish that if games were required to be installed to the hd, they would go whole hog and allow for pc created mods to be installed.
Fantastic game, even if unmodded. |

its my favorite game on PS3, period.
i've put in well over 150 hours, not even 10% finished the main quests, and i still can't put the controller down. this game actually scares me at times when i think of where video games are going. |

I got this game when it first came out on the PC and had to upgrade my processor and graphics card. Well, I didn't technically "have" to upgrade but it's really nice being able to play the game at full capasity. All textures/shadows/reflections on high looks beautiful.
As for the length of the game, I'd probably be able to run thru and beat the "main" quest in about 10 hours using fast travel... but doing the main quest first makes it too easy since the monsters/bad guys seem to level up with you. So you may not even get to see some of the biggest baddies in Oblivion until your level 20+. Only gripe I have with Oblivion is their level-up scheme. You don't collect XP points by killing things or doing quests. You gain levels by using your abilities. Like if you're at skill level 5 with the blade and use your blade a lot you will increase to skill level 6. Once you've increased 10 skill levels of your major skills (You get to pick these at least) then you gain a level. I prefer the old XP point system but maybe I'm just a bit of an old school gamer... |
