I see no reason to rush out and get a new player. I seldomly watch anything but the movie. Like I've said a thousand times, just give me the best pq and aq and the rest is just gravy.

I would love to see behind the scene, the making and bloopers more than interactive feature. As far as playing games and chat with other poeple.. no I don't think I care for that. When I watch movie I don't want to be disturbed.
You don't want poeple talking to you in movie theater do you? I doubt that very much.

It's something that's there but nobody will really use it more than once.
How many DVD out there that's encoded with multiple angles features? not too many really.

Do you have to buy a movie specifically saying it has BD-live or are all movies going to eventually have it? I like watching the special features and I don't want to buy a lot of BDs then find out a newer version is coming out later. I always hated it when that happened with standard dvd's.

Laptop here.
Currently has been upgradedPowerDVD Ultra) to Bonus View(Profile 1.1)... doubt if I will ever use it.
Ethernet? Uhm, yeah... I have ethernet.

Is there anything that I have read that will be interesting that BD-Live will offer me? No.

Meh.

The important thing here is to 'get the format complete'... Not sure if there will be more profiles after 2.0. But I believe that it's rather important to get the format down for both CE companies and consumers alike... Less confusion regarding profiles will help consumer adoption.

I hate to pull PS3-smugness rank, but I got 2.0 free with the player whether I intended to or not, so why should I care either way?

Like the man says, I'd rather have a machine With than Without, and you'll never know what comes in handy. Two weeks into the profile, I've no grounds to ask any questions.

Actually there are 4 releases with BD-Live: SAW IV, WAR, WALK HARD: THE DEWEY COX STORY and THE 6TH DAY.

New features will be added to 2.0 BD-Live, trailers, ringtones, movie scenes are just the begining.

Seems like nonthing. I have it on the PS3. But do most people care about it. No i will refer BD to friends except the PS3 when the price for 2.0 is down due to them being available for them.

They haven't locked down the feature sets of cars, PCs, refigerators, etc. but consumers don't seem to get confused buying those.

This is because what is important is that the item do it's core functionality. The consumer understands features after that.

What if the consumer gets spooked by an Internet connection on a box, and doesn't buy because of that?

I'm lucky enough to own a Sony BDPS500 and a PS3. I personally switched to Blu-ray for the picture quality and have little or no interest in any downloadable extras. Sony are bringing out the 550 later this year which has in built Ethernet and Profile 2.0. Even if I was tempted to buy it, having network cable running to my router is unsightly and not wife friendly (those of you who have had to plead with your wives for a decent sound system will understand what I mean!) If I'm that desperate to see some interactive features I'll use my PS3. The only benefit of an online standalone player for me would be the firmware upgrades. The current way of burning an iso image to cd then putting it in my S500 is a bit of a faff, but ultimately worth it.

That's not a feature. That's a downgrade.

one disc.... I can't remember which.... popped up something about BD LIVE, but I just ignored it, and didn't try it.... if they incorporate games into the kids' titles, then I can see it doing something, but again, I didn't try it, so I don't know what it does/doesn't do.

The games and features in general are pretty pathetic when you stack up online interactivity/game play/graphics against the crappest PS3 game.

i think one of features is to have downloadable subtitles. Like if you speak russian, and there aren't any russian subtitles, you can download them. That is actually really beneficial. It may be better than what everyone is making it out to be.

The Saw IV BD-Live feature is a movie blog (MoLog) where you have various scenes (might be all the traps) that you can add your comments to, etc. and then allow others to see what you've done. The one included on the disc was from the director and discussed his favorite trap and why. I haven't tried to create my own or view any others yet. At the time, when the PS3 first went BD-Live, the director's was the only one available for viewing.

The BD-Live feature in War was a fighting game where you choose a series of moves, tell it to start and watch the two characters fight it out. It can be played offline or online against others.
