My local CD Plus. $52.99 for movies like Hostel 2. $99.99 for Lost S3, $179.99 for the Harry Potter Boxset. It really is pathetic. I buy all my blus from Amazon.com rather than shop locally.

WTF?! $52.99 for Hostel 2? If Best Buy, or Fry's has some decent sales I usually go to them. If not there I will give EBay a try and see what they are going for on there. I got a few titles off EBay and they were all sent fairly fast. The thing that pisses me off about Fry's is that they rasied the prices by about $2-$3 each title.

I for one, buy all my Blu-Rays on eBay. Get combined shipping if you buy more than one and I have paid no more than $14.99 for any of my Blu-Rays.I have some that were $7.99. Best buy if you have points from previous buys. I got my SONY BDS300 for cash of $150 including tax after my points were deducted. Points came form major appliances I bought that they price matched. The worst part is I am seeing an alarming trend that all eBay Blu-Ray sellers (large volume) are raising their prices at least $10 to $15 over what they were selling the same movies for earlier.

Most places suck due to price and / or selection. Amazon is cheaper and often has free Shipping. It is the way to go. I'm willing to wait a few days for these catalog titles.

However, I might run out on day one for Iron Man and Transformers.

For me, it's a toss up between BB and Wally World. In my city (which I shall jnot name to protect the identities of those I love), the Wal-Marts just started selling Blu titles. They would get tons of shipments but according to the store manager they would "just send them back"...WTF?!?! And BB NEVER has any movies marked down. I recently got on the Amazon tip and have started ordering the majority of my movies from them. Before that, I always went to Fry's but now I have to be careful....their Blu "sales" are starting to have less impace...and as soon as the format war ended they marked up every movie $3 - so every title that was $19.99 is now $22.99 and so on....tricksy hobbits!

I put Wal-Mart mainly because the selection sucks worse than anywhere else and the prices aren't good. Circuit City is next... Best Buy and Target are about the same... occasionally you'll get a good deal, but most of the time they suck. Best Buy near me at least has a good selection.

The worst places to buy any DVD, CD, or Blu-ray is any of the mall chains: Suncoast, FYE, the three Blu-rays that GameStop carries, etc.

All my Blu-rays are from Target BOGO, Amazon, or used at GameStop.

BB, CC, Target, fye. those all kinda suck, BB is ok if you really cant find the blu. walmart is the best considering 30 days at bb was 30, at fye it's 40, and at wally world it 24.89

The anti-Wal*Mart vote doesn't surprise me but it certainly isn't based on over-the-top Blu-ray pricing. That honor most definitely belongs to Best Buy and Circuit City. I almost never shop at either of those stores unless it is a serious sale such as a BOGO. Wal*Mart's prices are in line with Amazon and their newer stores are not the rat traps of the past. Fry's Electronics is by far the best Blu-ray brick and mortar retailer because of their diverse selection (they carry just about every title) and their pricing is also in line with Amazon. I just wish there was one about 10 minutes away.

I get all the new releases from Wal-Mart. Where I live their price point is around 24-25 bills. If I want an older flick I go to Target or Best Buy.

This discussion should not just aim at the prices:

it should be obvious that an online retailer can sell at lower prices than an actual store which has high overhead costs.

Of course, they shouldn't over do it but the can't afford to have prices like amazon and we as customers should understand that.

i usually buy blu-rays at BB, CC and target when they have promos such as bogo. I have never seen a promo like that in walmart. might be a regional thing.

I am surprised no one has mentioned Suncoast. They seem to sell everything higher than MSRP. I dont' know how they sell anything at all.
