I vote for Cars and Lost: Season 3. Casino Royale would be the runner up if they're not into Lost. If their player is capable of getting a BD-Live firmware update, then Walk Hard will be out on Tuesday.

I Am Legend

The whole opening scene showing off the deserted city is pristine.

I would have to agree on I Am Legend. This whole movie is one big showoff for blu ray.

The Second Pirates of the Caribbean looks good and it gets pretty bassy at times (when the Mind Flayer, err, Davie Jones is about).

I would also add Dave Mathews' Radio City show Blu-ray - fantastic audio and picture quality.

She only planned on buying one movie. I told to buy at least two, one animated and one live action.

In order:
Cars
Casino Royale
I Robot
Ratouille
Ice Age 2

She didn't know about Casino Royale so I just showed her a shot of Daniel Craig on google images and she's sold on that one.

So, did I do okay??

Certainly looks like you've picked a number of titles which match concensus in this list.

I've found these to be the best:

I, Robot
Man on Fire
Deja Vu
Casino Royale
I Am Legend
300
The Rock
3:10 to Yuma

Troy Director's Cut looks absolutely stunning on Blu-ray. There are a lot of scenes in the daytime, battles and such. The detail on the battle armor is awesome.

3:10 to Yuma looks great too.

Ratatouille, I Am Legend, I, Robot, and Apocalypto. Seriously, you can't go wrong with that quadruple slam. Amazing audio and visuals. Among the best that Blu-ray offers.

I Am Legend seems to be on just about everyone's list, I Robot too. They're not bad movies but I'm not dying to own them either. But these raves about the picture and sound quality might be enough to make me get both, provided I can find em cheap on amazon.

Maybe it's also a Will Smith thing. I find it amusing that I own 4 of his films on blu, and alphabetically they're all 4 sitting next to each other in my cabinet with nothing else in between (Hitch, I, Robot, I Am Legend, Independence Day).

Weird. Well, we'll have Men In Black soon enough. I'd like to get that so I hope they do a great job on the transfer.

It’s just a fad. “I Am Legend” is a recently released movie, it is fresh in everyone’s memory. It was the same thing back when “300” was released, everybody, and their dog Max, was raving about it, but now you rarely see anyone recommending it anymore.
