His comments on the Sam Adams' Imperial Pilsner:

Quote:
Definitely the best Sam Adams I have ever had, and a beer in the top tier that I have ever tasted from the Pilsner or IPA variety.
I certainly back this up also, and again, this is probably one of the easier of Sam Adams' "Ultimate Beers" to get ahold of.

Utopias is supposedly much like drinking sherry. Once you get above about 8-9% ABV, as far as I'm concerned, it's not much like drinking beer anymore. Nothing wrong with them, but it's a different kind of beverage. I try to keep my selection in the 5-7% ABV range. It still allows for decent extract efficiency, and it allows for having a few without falling on the floor. I've experimented with just about every style of beer you can think of, and I've come to the point where I really just like to have an American style bitter ale (APA/IPA) and a black beer (porter/stout) and one Belgian style on my taps with an occasional lager thrown in. Malt and Hops prices, like everything else these days, are through the roof, though.
