Thinking about it know, I would buy it on Blu. A story of freedom is something we all wish to have and what a better way to live it than on BLu. (IRONIC, I know).

Based on the movie, in some ways he had done more living than many.

I will definitely buy it if it comes out on Blu-ray. I just got done re-reading the book after watching the movie. Originally I read the book years ago. It was just as good, if not better, the second time. Chris McCandless obviously took things to an extreme, but I can understand somewhat the sentiment for a simpler, more basic life. I hadn't realized Eddie Vedder did the soundtrack, so that was a nice surprise when I saw the movie.

didn't "live"????

he "lived" more than most people that live to 100 yrs old.... IMO at least.

Disagree. He had experienced more REAL life than 90% of retired people. A lot of people live for many years, but dont EXPERIENCE LIFE.....they just exist.

Each person's idea of living life is different. His idea of living life to me was not living life at all. It was more about not being responsible. He could have done the traveling he did without doing it the way he did. I dont know if this makes sense to everyone what I am meaning but there are many ways to live your life. At the end of the movie, it appeared to me that he regreted his choices and realized that he didnt need to change who he was. This kid was hiding from life basically in my opinion. But that is just my two cents worth and everyone has their own opinion of it.

So Blu-ray didn't really win? if so shouldn't all these movie's be coming to BR asap. I mean I thought the war was over and if there is no worries from that from all parties why are we waiting for these movies to come. Shoot the process seems so slow that I wouldn't be surprised if another more advanced format slips in faster than we think. I really should revaluate my BR buying. I own 5 movies only right now, and a few games. I doubt I will be buying much more. The waiting continues for me, or forced upon me in the case of "into the wild"!

And about the movie, I had an old friend who graduated from Stanford in 91, didn't really go to this extreme. But he pretty much left everyone and everything behind, bought a VW bus and drove to Mexico where he stayed for like 6months. Then would come home for a month (worked construction with my bro for some cash and split) and then he went to Alaska to fish for like 4 months, and then in the winter he worked on the ski lifts in Idaho. He did this rotation and I'm sure a few other things for like 5 yrs after College. Eventually he met a lady and settled down and just had his first kid at 39 yrs old. I admired his journeys.

You're right. I found most of the songs on YouTube and they're awesome. I'll have to get this eventually.
