Ya, I was thinking about just going ahead and getting the 5.1 and get either a pair of A6 - 6T6 MTM's or A6 - 5T5 - MTM's because it would be cheaper because the total price is 15% off, and if I bought them later it would cost me an extra $50 or so. Any way, should I just go for the A6 - 5T5 - MTM's or is the A6 - 6T6 MTM's worth the extra $$$? It seems like the A6 - 5T5 - MTM's will do just fine though. I will probably get the speaker mounts or stands as well. Will I have to drill into the speaker if I want to mount the speakers?

Not familiar with those speakers, but if the mounts are made for them, I doubt you'd have to drill etc.... I'd call and ask though.

The A6-5T5's will do fine for surrounds. I was only suggesting the A6-6T6 MTM's as surrounds if you listen to a lot of 5 channel music, but the 5T5's will hold their own with music as well.

As for stands/mounts, the speakers don't have mounting brackets, so your best best I think is to use a stand or use shelves. For my A6-6T6 MTM rears I actually got some heavy duty mounts that don't screw into the speaker and work really well, but they ran me about $70.

Could you send me the link for thoose speaker mounts? Also the speaker stands on the ED website, do thoose bolt into or mount on the stand or something? I'm not exactly sure how it works.

I would definatley make it 5.1. And i agree with your speaker selections whole heartedly as you can see from my Sig. i Use nothing but eD speakers. They are phenominal for the price. I agree with others in saying you will difinatley want to add some surround speakers, if you are hurting for money just add a pair of 5TC's but i would reccomened the slight price increase to get a pair of the 5T5 MTM's.

I have the 5T5 MTM's and i love them coming from sattelite Rears the extra mids make a huge huge difference in the rear soundfield. eD also has a package builder that allows you to save 15% right off the top and offers free shipping on it all to boot. I paid a little over $1000 for my whole setup which is 5.1 (6T6 Towers, 6T6 MTM Center, 5T5 MTM Rears) and Sub (A2-300) and would easily do it all over again if i had too.

And Heres some pics of the size difference between the 5T5 MTM and the 6T6 MTM if you are fathoming the idea for either as surrounds but let me say the 6T6's are HUGE!

Sure thing. Here's the mounts for my A6-6T6 MTM's (you can probably get away with something smaller for the 5T5's- give the guys at eD a call and they will be glad to help you figure it out):

http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.proc...afeed.BTH+BT77

Those mounts are really solid and have the added benefit of not requiring you to screw into the speaker cabinet.

As for the stands, I believe you can choose whether or not to screw the speakers into them, but it's more a matter of where the stands be. If in a high traffic area, it's probably a good idea for the added security.

Oh, and you can get all the stands they have on their website from amazon for less money. They are all Sanus brand.

If you go with the 5T5's you shouldn't have too much trouble mounting them at their size and 15lbs. in weight. I had no choice but to go with those mounts due to the 6T6's being enormous and weighing in at 25lbs.

1 more question.

What necessary wires, tools, cables do I need for my home theater?

I already have 2 or 3 v1.3 HDMI cables so that is covered.

The things I need to connect are as follows:

1: Ps3
2: Onkyo 605 Receiver
3: 2 Tower speakers, 2 bookshelf speakers, and 1 center speaker
4: 1 Subwoofer
5: 1 46" XBR4 Sony Bravia.
6: 2 Speaker Stands

Could someone provide me with what necessary hookups I will need, because I am pretty clueless about the tools and such.

Thats all I will need? Seems like I would need something else. What about RCA audio cables? Also what do you recommend as far as speaker wire? 12 or 14 AWG, and 2 or 4 rated?

Anyway thanks for all your help Metalheadisme.

It will help you set up the ideal speaker levels for your listening position.... it measures the sound pressure (even at in-audible levels to the human ear)

It's a VALUABLE tool.

If you use HDMI interconnects, you don't need RCA cables except for the subwoofer.
Depending on your spesker connections, I recommend Dual banana pins at the receiver, and the same at the speakers if they have 5 way binding posts.

14ga wire is more than sufficient.

So I will need speaker wire, 1 rca cable, and 10 banana plugs? I'm not sure how many banana plugs I will need though.

Well you need 2 pair (2 red/2 black) per cable (4 Total), so in a 5 speaker setup you will need 20 or 10 pairs of banana plugs.

If you do banana plugs for all the speakers you will need 20 total... 4 per speaker.. monoprice has nice ones.. I baught them also.. work great..

That ED 6t6 center channel is very similar in size to my 5C.. but the Aperion 5C is $350.00 but has a great sound... Huge soundstage and smooth smooth high end..

So 2 of the banana plugs go from the wire to the speaker, and then the other 2 go to the receiver? So 5x4 =20 right? Won't I also need a subwoofer cable? Also do I need banana plugs for the subwoofer also? If so How many do I need for the subwoofer?

No banana plugs for the subwoofer.... just the sub cable.

Personally I'd save your money, and not get the banana plugs at all.

As for speaker wire, the lower the number(gauge) the thicker the wire. I use 14-16 gauge and buy big rolls of it at Lowes or Walmart. Lowes has 5 pair packs of banana plugs for like 17 bucks.

1.75 a pair and cheaper if you buy more.. Buy the cable at monoprice also.. I got 12 guage becuase my speakers will draw a decent amount of power.. You can get away with 14 guage without a problem.. Monoprice has both of these items very cheap and they are very good....
