No, both the UPC and catalog numbers (the number on the spine and on the top security strip) are different.

I just finished watching this, and man, it's like a whole different movie. Even though I saw it in imax, I would have to say that this is the best viewing of the film I've had.

I did, however, forget how much banding and other video issues were present. I've been holding off on watching this for awhile in hopes of finding this version, so I've had many other discs to raise my standards. Oh well. Hopefully in '10 when MOS is released we'll get an extended cut (I actually think all of the deleted scenes are quite good, and I'd love to see them put back into the film), along with the original beginning sequence. I don't regret this at all, and would have to say it's one of the better PCM tracks out there.

I'm confused. Can someone explain this to me? Why are there two versions of Superman Returns?

Because for some reason Warner put a TrueHD track for the HD DVD version, but not Blu-ray. Pioneer paid Warner to press a Blu-ray version with PCM and TrueHD to be packed in with the Pioneer BDP-94HD player.

It was part of a very limited number of copies that was released with one of the Pioneer BD players. It was never for sale at retailers.

first time poster, long time reader.

Been looking for this one myself for a long time. As I've posted on the avs forums, if anyone finds a copy of this, I'd be willing to pay for it 100 USD.

Great picture right there, and funny as hell. Dig it!

I just wanted to say congratulations to BStecke, as that disc is indeed quite a rarity.

Yeah, but what does that have to do with the Holy Grail of BD?--
And when did they release the Star Wars and LOTR trilogies when we weren't looking?

(Heck, I'd even settle for "Holy Grail" on BD!)

Glad everyone likes the pic. I love to do that sort of things so if anyone has requests, and if I can find the time...

maybe we should add a subtext to that pic...

"Here, watch this.. it will save your life."

"The picture is so clear, I can die happy now"

Congrats. I didn't read the whole thread but really wonder where he came up with this title and it appears multiples of them in my brief read. Returned player??? A returned movie??

Yeah, but was just referring to the buildup:

"I got the most requested, most sought-after title on Blu!"
"Yeah, yeah?"
"I found...SUPERMAN RETURNS!! "
...
<long pause>
...
"Oh. So, you, er...liked that, then? "
