Mine was 300!

I never heard of this site or any review site that reviewed the quality of blu-rays so I was expecting 300 to be the best looking blu LOL. I love the movie tho

Those are some great recommendations, which by and large, can be gotten on the cheap.

My first was The Departed, but go with the pirate movies, if you like em, or live free or die hard

Well i'm pretty sure i'm going to narrow it down to a few for my first purchases....
No Country For Old Men - 1st
Then.
Pirates I, II, III.
Pixar Short Films.
Casino Royal.
300.

That should do me for a while until Zodaic...
Thanks for the help all.

My very first Blu-ray was Casino Royale, my favorite one so far is Blade Runner, and my latest ones are A Passage to India (if you like David Lean's films) and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. These Blu-rays alone are highly recommended on all counts!!

my first was the punisher back when Blu-ray was new. I bought it at the end of November I think of 2006 so we didnt have a stellar selection to choose from.

I would buy CARS as each time you watch it you will notice the PQ and thank yourself for upgrading

After you get No Country For Old Men, go out and get 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Shot on 70mm film, which is what is used in IMAX if I'm not mistaken looks nice when transferred. And as we all know, film has a much higher resolution than any HD video.

Plus that movie is one of the finest around.

My First Title: Talladega Nights

I recommend a new release. The PQ of the recent movies really exceeds what many of us watched as a first title. POTC 1-3 are all good to watch. Really anything from Disney or Sony is going to be an excellent transfer. I really like 300 on BD, but some might complain about grain. Remember the days of threads on grain? Anyway, Fox titles are also good to watch, maybe I, Robot as this is considered by many to be a reference quality title.

My first Blu-ray purchase was Pirates 2. I'd definitely recommend Casino Royale though.

I got a few with the 5 free BD, one being Underworld: Evolution. Having loved both of the movies on DVD, I went with Underworld for $14.95 from Amazon. I watch both movies about once a month.
