Once you get to "Please select a payment method" you will see "Enter new gift cards, gift certificates or promotional claim codes" and in that field you enter HDDISC10 and click apply. Before you place your order you will see the promotion applied in the order summary. If it is not exactly 10% of the items value then one ore more of your titles probably are pre-orders, and like I said pre-orders are usually only available for the promotion just before release time! If the purchase is complete and the promotional code is granted, you will not have to add the code again, it will be auto deducted for a year from that first purchase (and you will always see the deduction in the same place you entered the code the first time).

Example: I have two titles that I want for Feb 6th, American Psycho: Uncut Version and Reservoir Dogs: 15th Anniversary. If I put both titles in the basket and go on to place my order I only get -2$ in stead of -4$ on the total price. That is because of the fact that only American Psycho is applicable for the moment (it wasn't a week ago), but if I wait a week ore two both of them will be available for the promotional code. Like I said, Amazon is a little slow on pre-orders.

One of my purchases for you to see:
Item(s) Subtotal: $47.90
Shipping & Handling: $9.47
Promotional Certificate: $-4.79
Total Before Tax: $52.58
Total for this Shipment: $52.58

I hope I understood the question correctly and clarified some of the stuff for you?

Default HD Discount Problems Referred to Technical Support

I tried to reorder the same titles and the customer service rep offered me a $11 promotional discount to offset the fact that my HD titles were not being discounted.

I called later in the the day and spent a lot of time talking to another Amazon rep who actually understood my problem. He started a case with their technical support department to see why our (mostly) pre-order titles are not being flagged for the 10% discount.

He said to wait 2-3 days for a response. We'll see what happens!

Update: I got an email last week in which a rep said they would discount my order by 10% for two titles. That never happened. This morning I got an email saying that they couldn't discount orders anymore because of a change in the computer system, but offered me a $5 gift certificate to make up for the difference. Well, they actually gave me two (one for each title) and it works out to a little less than 10% off all my preorders (which I had grouped into one order). So, that takes care of that.

Now I just have to hope they fix the problem before my next order.

Default Amazon refers lack of HD discount to technical support

I spent a lot of time talking to an Amazon customer service rep yesterday who actually understood my problem (most of the reps assumed I was ordering a non-HD title).

He is writing up a case referral to technical support to see why all HD preorders cannot be flagged for the discount. He said it should take 2-3 days to get back to me for an update.

I'm hoping that this should take care of the problem!

Thanks! Keep us posted. If I have to redo my order, then so be it, but hopefully they can do something a little more intuitive than that.

I don't know why they couldn't just get it correct the first time. I don't like to reorder because I don't want to lose my place in line. That happened with a DVD I ordered that was supposed to ship yesterday. It is now delayed because i preorded too late.

I was told the same thing weeks ago with no results. It just gets to the point where it's not worth the time to get the discount. I have been buying elsewhere and getting them to match Amazon/Target price. I do not want to give my $'s to Amazon because of the fact that I think they know the problem alot of us are having and have not corrected it. Makes you think they DON'T want to correct the issues with the 10% off.

Default Amazon says discount now works

I just received email from Amazon in which their technical support department says it can take 4-5 business days for the system on the back end to recognize pre-order titles after they are first posted as qualifying titles for the HD/Blu-ray discount offer.

I'll resubmit in a few days and we'll see if Amazon is right!

They aren't. I have been checking many titles that I purchased prior for the discount, but they keep saying they aren't eligible. The only one I got to work was Big Fish. I ordered it and emailed them saying I couldn't get the code to work. They emailed me back the next day and told me to call them after I got my disc for a refund. I tried again, and the discount worked. It only took 24 hours for them to get it in the system. Not sure what is taking so long now.

Default Amazon discount finally works!

I just replaced my order with Amazon and was amazed that all my preorder titles (5 of them) automatically received the 10% discount.

Could Amazon have been right all along?

Asking them to add the discount often helps. I asked them 2 days ago to add The Departed and it showed up. I did the same for a few other titles before and they added them to the system.
