Also, once I get my receiver, I need to buy speakers

This is the hard part.

I can probably budget about $2,000 for a 7.1 set of speakers. I just have no clue what to get or WHERE to buy them from.

Since you said you needed at least 3 HDMI ports, then the answer is "No".

So the difference in THD and Power Rating won't really make a huge difference?

The 805 is TWICE the weight of the 606.... (60 pounds vs. 30)....805 is about $100 bucks more than the 606.

805 has 3 HDMI inputs vs. 4 for the 606....606 has HDMI 1.3a (true deep color?) while the 805 is only HDMI 1.3

No, the THD and power rating will make a difference. The weight of the reciever shouldn't be an issue either. $100 more for a better quality reciever is worth it. They didn't just decide to make the 805 $1100 when it first came out for nothing. The 805 is a superior deal. I got my 805 for $375! Now that's what you call a steal!

Is this price quote for a brand new one via the Circuit City website?? They just bumped the price back up nearly $50 yesterday

One thing I would like to add that I just discovered in my search is getting the exact dimension of the receiver. I was looking at the Onkyo 805, but there is no way it is going to fit in my custom glass shelving cabinet. And logistically there is no other place for me to put it. So the Sony 720 is also on my list.

Where are you at for speakers?? Have you checked out any of the high end Polk satellite bundle sets that are being discontinued and 60%+ off retail right now??

So Ecost worked out for you? Great. Next time I see a rediculous deal there, I might pick something up.

Just ordered my 805 this afternoon. Amazon.com should be shipping it tomorrow, so I should receive it early next week. I paid $568.00 shipped for it for your info... I hope it fullfills all my HD needs for BD and HD-DVD for at least a few years untill I can afford another Denon.
