I've been a fan since Newsies. An ex-gf actually bought the DVD for me as a gift (since I admitted liking it) but in the last few years, I've met a few girls who randomly mentioned liking the movie as a kid, and wanted to come back to my place to watch it

Not to knock the Bale lovefest, but Heath Ledger (R.I.P) was such an incredible actor. It's going to be weird watching TDK knowing full well that Ledger is not with us anymore.

I'm guessing this is an Americacentric site (no offence I just mean mostly U.S. posters) as the non-Hollywood stuff seems to be less well-known. For Bale, I'm surprised no-one has mentioned Spielberg's Empire of the Sun (I think that was his first film), and I thought Psycho was the one that really broke him but anyway. You're all correct though. He's pretty awesome.

And as it's ostensibly a Ledger thread with hardly any Ledger posts, check out "Two Hands" a great Aussie Gangster film.

While on the topic you should check out 2 of Russell Crowe's movies before he was supposedly 'discovered' (by Hollywood anyway), The Aussie movies "Romper Stomper" where he plays a neo-nazi and his next "The Sum of Us" where he's a young gay man are 2 films that have arguably stretched him more as an actor than anything since.

ya i was surprised that american psycho wasn't mentioned before, he was simply terrific in that movie. loved in the machinist as well , very creepy and was excellent in the movie. love his new stuff just as much.

and equilibrium , that one flew under the radar for a lot of people but i absolutely love it. i hope to see it on blu-ray soon. it could be like sunshine for a lot of people. I knew noting about sunshine but heard the movie was really good and very impressive on blu-ray

but going back to the original topic. very nice article , i saw the latest preview and heath ledger looks amazing in it , he looks really evil . i can't wait to see this movie
