I would buy this movie in a heartbeat. I'd wait outside of a store to open just so I could own the movie on Blu-ray. Definitely one of my favorite movies of all time. Hope Universal releases it sometime this year. Ya know, to play catch up some.

Do you have any reason to believe it could be interlaced? It was shot on film and probably 99.9% of all BDs with "shot on film content" are progressive. So it's probably safe to say, this one will be as well.

hey blaumann,
yeah, well I asked at avforums about the PQ, and one person saïd:
"curiously on my american sony blu ray player it says "source direct 1080i/50i" (?)"

and with Entertainment in Video being notorious for terrible DVD transfers, I had just wondered if this was the case...

I don't think Brokeback Mountain is that great, but it certainly
has a following. This website is interesting whether you like
the film or not. At least I found it interesting in that it gives
background, actual locations that go in to how much goes
on in the production.

Brokeback mountain is a great movie i watched it after he passed away wanted to see it cause it had alot of good things said about the film...It should have won oscar easy....Its a sad movie...about how one man couldn't drop the fact that he was in love with a man and ended up losing out on true love cause he just couldn't drop the fact that others would say this and think that, who cares what others think....such strong performaces in this movie one of the best of all time in my mind..

I saw it and boy was it boring, just not a movie for me, great for those who love it. I found it boring, where nothing truly happen's.

What get's me going on this movie, is that as soon you say you do not like it and found the story boring, right away you are homophobic.

I know this is an old thread but I was just wondering - is there a difference in the transfer between the UK and the USA releases of Brokeback Mountain? I think I'm right in saying the UK version came out quite a long time before the US one and I think with a different studio.

You should avoid the UK edition from EIV. This was the only BD I've ever owned that had a non-seamless layer change on my Panasonic player. There was a definite pause at the change and the player momentarily went into "reading" mode. (It was a repeatable problem.) I don't know how this happened, but there was obviously some sort of screw-up in the disc mastering.

The US edition from Universal is fine - very nice transfer.
