NOT heresy to true Bond fans! I'm a lifelong Bond fan (have been collecting memoribilia for almost 30 years) and I think Casino Royale is the best Bond movie since 1969! I feel like the real Bond is finally back (he came back for a small time in guise of Timothy Dalton). |

All I can say is WOW!!
![]() I, along with many others have been clamoring for more releases, and it seems we are now reaching the tipping point. This fall is gonna be expensive: Jack Ryan set, Mummy Trilogy, Heroes, U-571, Kill Bill set, Sleeping Beauty, Shawshank, rumors of Godfather trilogy, and now six Bond releases. I may need to get a home equity loan to feed this addiction. Question: for those who have the other Bond box sets, do you plan on keeping them once the Blu-ray set comes out, or will you unload? Bond will mean a double dip for me, and I may consider selling off my other boxsets. |

Is it just me or is it weird that they aren't releasing Goldfinger in this group?
I mean, every Sean Connery early bond (let's all pretend to forget his comeback in Diamonds. Or his "other" comeback in "Never" :>) except for the one that was the biggest hit, the best villain, the best gadgets (introduction of the Aston Martin, for example), and which still holds up after all these years and they "skip" it (Dr. No, From Russia and... Thunderball?) That's just plain weird. Regardless of whether you think Bond began with Pierce, or Craig, you just *have* to honor the man who started it all, and while there is still a debate as to whether "Russia" or "Goldfinger" is his best effort certainly "Thunderball" never enters that argument. I really don't get this. (BTW, while I'm an old guy who grew up with Bond and never felt anyone did it better than Connery, I really enjoy Craig's efforts and like the new take on 007. It's pretty cool that a whole new generation is enjoying the secret agent that inspired it all). |

I think they're getting ready for the next set of releases, and if they put Goldfinger in the boxset, it will certainly help sales. I can't see the studios releasing all of the Connery favorites at one time and think it all has to do with packaging. Just my thoughts. |

Before you rush off to theaters to catch Quantum of Solace this November, MGM and Fox are planning to keep you squarely planted on the couch for at least a few days in October. Announced today, the two studios have agreed to push out a half dozen Bond classics on Blu-ray this October (20th internationally; 21st in North America), each of which will be "restored and re-mastered." Recently restored and re-mastered for the highest quality picture and sound quality via the state-of-the-art Lowry process digital frame-by-frame restoration and featuring special features galore. The films in question are Dr. No, Die Another Day, Live and Let Die, For Your Eyes Only, From Russia With Love and Thunderball. There's no mention of a price just yet

I am not so sure about buying every James Bond title on Blu. I mean the ultimate editions on DVD restored by Lowry sounds great and looks quite handsome.
The extras surely are gonna be the same and in 480i. Perhaps I'll only buy a couple of my fav Bond titles like From Russia With Love or Goldfinger. |

Victory, thy name is "Bond...James Bond"! While I have some favorite James Bond movies (From Russia With Love, Goldfinger, You Only Live Twice, Diamonds Are Forever, Live and Let Die, The Spy Who Loved Me, A View to a Kill, The Living Daylights, and Die Another Day) and some not-so-favorite James Bond movies, I'll still have every single Bond film right next to my Casino Royale Blu-ray! Come on, Oct. 21!
P.S. Sean Connery is still my favorite James Bond! Last edited by wnicholas76; 06-20-2008 at 10:32 PM. |

Except for Moonraker, Octopussy and the second Dalton film, its every Bond for me.
Bring em on but remaster them properly first, Im happy to wait. The Ultimate editions were good and bad quality (what happened to GoldenEye and The Spy who Loved me Ultimate editions - they were worse than the Special Editions) |

In reality Rodger Moore was not the first choice it was Pierce Brosnan but he could not get out of his contract for the TV show Remmington Steele. Had he been able to get out of the TV show Rodger Moore would have never been Bond.

This is great news. I never got around to getting the whole collection on DVD so I'm looking forward to getting most, if not all, of the Bond films on blu-ray.
As for the different actors playing Bond, for a while Roger Moore was who I considered to be the "real" Bond as well. For Your Eyes Only was the first Bond film I saw at the theater so it took me a while to accept Sean Connery as Bond in some of the earlier ones. Didn't take me long to appreciate the femme fatales/Bond girls in the older Bond movies though. |
