because I have a HUGE room, and will likely sit pretty far away.... and really I am not too concerned with picture quality, I'd rather spend the extra money on saving up for Mono-tubes, or more media, etc.

Plus $750 they're practically giving it away!!! I'll probably budget $4-$500 for a screen (so I can keep it and re-use it when I get a better projector someday.)
WOW! Makes me wish my theater room was actually built instead of just some rough sketches on paper. Well, by the time I do get it built, 1080p projectors will probably be down to very reasonable price levels. Until then, I'll just enyoy what I have.

Any reason why you would spend so much on a screen when you can DIY one at a fraction of the cost? I've been doing a bit of reasearch into all of this projection stuff (yeah, puttin' the cart before the horse without even a room yet) and decided I'd go the DIY route when ready. Just curious.

Just want a decent screen, and I'm not too sure about my "DIY" skills..... I know I can use a "fixed" screen, since it'll be a dedicated theater.... but beyond that, I have no idea how big to make it, what to make it out of, how to make it "taught" etc..... Maybe I'll look into it..... either way, I can't really break $1,500 on the screen and projector without the wife becoming an issue

I guess I'll read some of the DIY threads !

Beta can not go wrong with that setup for sure. As far as price points on screens, getting a good quality screen is very important in terms of the PQ experience and avoiding any kind of distortion of images. The two biggest factors being fabric planarity and projection fabric smoothness. So its kind of like receivers where you get what you pay for. I had been looking into this big time but ultimately my room is really too small, which is both good and bad; the biggest I could really go would be 61" and be totally immersed.

Exactly...

Or just wait for the next big, best thing to come out... then upgrade. If you upgraded now it'd be a minimal upgrade.

We have mix of 1080p(1920x1080) and 720p(1280x720) TVs at our house, though many 720p sets are really 768p(1366x768) WXGA, a computer resolution. 1080p is better then 720p, provided you are getting equal amounts of color, contrast, etc. While there is some PQ loss of a 720p image due to scalling, it is still 3x over 480p. Plenty of pixles to make Blu worth while over DVD. Don't let 720p hold you back.

Be sure you sit at the proper distance from your set

I first started on Blu-ray on a 32" 720p at a viewing distance of 7 feet, and the picture quality change was FANTASTICALLY, BEAUTIFULLY noticeable. Brought a tear to my eye, it was so beautiful.
