Saw him live a few times..... he's funny.... got too political when he got older, but he was funny nonetheless.

When I was teenager struggling to understand and express who I am, there was always George Carlin making it cool to be an atheist in a world where people will always hate you for being different. He's the first person that I saw swearing on TV. Carlin held up a middle finger to everybody, lived by the motto that we're all absurd *******s, and if you don't love him it's because you're too self-serious.

I'm gonna miss you, George.

Carlin is one of my favorite people. He has countless HBO specials. His last one from March was really really funny. I skipped seeing him live last year because of $ - now I'll never get to.

Yep, I big chunk of comic history passed away today. Even though it's all comedy, the truths coming out of his skits were amazing. As someone mentioned, even though it was a comic moment, it made you think at the same time about today's society sillyness....

Sorry to see the news. However, he had failed to be funny for years. His early years were great but the last not so much. When I saw him a couple of years ago the audience was silent as they shuffled out of the playhouse. A sure sign that I was not along in thinking wow that was not funny at all.

To one of the greats, who challenged the politically correct, the insanely mundane and all that was proper... I raise my glass and salute the man that made the "F" word funny.
Happy trails funny man, you will be missed

That was rather unexpected.

I too thought he had at least another 10 years left in him; he was always such a tough old goat. I really loved his sharp brand of comedy and his laid-back style. He did some great work in his time.

You'll be missed, George.

Have you seen all of his specials? He has a ton. The only one I did not find funny was I believe two specials ago. It was overly cynical and less funny. Every other special is hilarious - including his last one from March this year.
