Compare that to the original movie 5 years ago. The Hulk was constantly changing. He looked more like Ang Lee than Eric Bana. Even his body shape (sans muscles) was a copy of Ang Lee. I watch that movie and I see Lee playing the Hulk. It was a terrible rendition of The Hulk period. Very inconsistent in size as well (they got around this by saying that the madder he got the bigger he got. ![]() [Show spoiler] and then again when [Show spoiler] So CGI in new Hulk was great. Everyone will see for themselves when they get or rent the blu and can analyze it better at home. As for the story, it was a great chase movie. It really started out using the formula from the TV show (almost pace for pace) and then morphed into the comic book (the morph happened at the college when he and Betty left for the bus station. The only problem I had with the pacing was the Tony Stark scene. They should have put that after the credits. A better ending to the film would have been the last shot of Norton in the cabin. There were some scenes I wish would've made the cut, but I'm glad they cut most of them. I would of liked the prologue of Bruce in the Arctic. They could have put that in before the montage at the beginning. I'm sure the cut scene will be somewhere on the blu release. Pacing was very good for a chase movie though and adding much more would've taken away from that. The first movie's story just wasn't a Hulk tale. The new one was taken from the comics from the late 70's early 80's (IMO) with the Savage Hulk. The Ang Lee version was too convoluted. I understood what he was trying to do, but the Hulk didn't need such a giant reinvention. And to make his Dad into the Absorbing man was terrible (The Absorbing man is a Thor villain). The Hulk's main villain is Banner and Banner's is the Hulk. The new movie hit this much better than Lee's Hulk. Banner wanted 'to get rid of it, not control it.' The pacing in Lee's Hulk was terrible. It was start and stop the entire film. Then theres the ending of the Hulk fighting, well, a metaphor. WTF?! Honestly the movie would've been better if Lee's Hulk would've been another color and they would've called him something else besides The Hulk. It just wasn't the Hulk. Not an entirely bad movie, just a bad Hulk movie. There's much more bad I could talk about in Lee's film, but I think it would be easier just to say watch the new version AND THEN go back and watch the 2003 version. I did. It was the most upset I had been about the movie (Lee's). I will say one last thing: The sound mix on Lee's Hulk was terrible (culminating in the embarrassing sounds they had the Hulk making). The sound mix in the new Hulk was off the charts. I'm not sure what your problems with the movie are. I'd be happy to address them if you want to be more specific. I'm not into attacking anyone (I'm not perfect). But I'd be into a healthy debate with anyone except PSPlayer ![]() ![]() |

I didn't hate the Ang Lee Hulk movie as much as many other people did, but this new one is still significantly better.
I will pick both up whenever they come out, but given the fact that they are trying to separate this new one from the old one, I don't think actually putting them in a 2-pack together would be a good idea (esspecially since this new one isn't really meant to be a direct sequel to the first one, though it does kind of/sort of work as one). If anything, if they could get Paramount and Universal to agree to do so, I think an Iron Man/ Incredible Hulk 2-pack would be sweet, esspecially considering that they are the first two steps in the master plan to build up to the Avengers movie in 2011. (summer 2010 will be Iron Man II and Thor, 2011 will be Captain America and then the Avengers). While I don't plan to wait for over 3 years to buy these movies, it will be cool if once all the films are done, they release a big boxed set of all the movies that connect into this plotline. |
