Spend the money, help the economy. For the children (can't argue against helping children).

Spending and wasting are two different things.

You should spend wisely and intelligently. Why should ignorance promote wasting money for the kids?

You know what you could do? You could return your overpriced Monster cables and use the leftover money to donate to some children foundation. Then you'd really be doing some good.

Oh yeah, for $600, you can dive into the world of HD Audio. Check out the Polk 5.1 system and Onkyo 605 in my sig.

The only thing that I would be carefuly of there is that the 605 is getting harder to find, isn't it? It is last years model?

Yes, it's last years model, but I don't know why there'd be reason to worry.

Edit: I have all the links in my sig on the bottom.

To the OP, make sure your settings like contrast, and backlight are not turned all the way up like it is in BB.
try these settings for movie and standerd mode and tell me what you think.
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showp...postcount=1500
and to start off your HT i would look at an onkyo 605, or 705 with some polks speakers.

I guess worry is not the right word. Difficult. The quantities maybe getting a little light. I am not sure I have not looked into it.

Look what I found OP!

Quote:
Samsung LNT4071F Calibration settings:

Picture

Mode: Standard
Contrast 88
Brightness 50
Sharpness 40
Color 55
Tint 50
Backlight 8 (This is fully adjustable by you. I enjoy 8. Keeps my movies bright and my blacks black. If its too bright for you, turn it down, if you want brighter, crank it up)
Color Tone: Cool1

Detailed Settings
Black Adjust: High
Dynamic Contrast: Medium
Gamma: 1
Color Space: Wide

White Balance
R-Offset: 13
G-Offset: 15
B-Offset: 17 (Lower this to 14 if you have too much blue tint)
R-Gain: 12
G-Gain: 13
B-Gain: 13 (Might want to try raising this if you touch the B-Offset)

My Color Control
Pink 15
Green 15
Blue 15
White 20 (Increase this for a bit more white if you want or decrese it if you find white skin tones look to white and not pearchy enough.)

Edge Enhancement: On
xvYCC: Greyd out (set to off)

Size: Just Scan
Digital NR: Off
Active colour: greyed out (off)
DNIe: On
Auto Motion Plus 120Hz: Off (This setting doesent really matter with the colour, it doesent seem to work for me without sttutering on the xbox 360 (works for games tho) and I have no blu-ray or stand alone HD-DVD or HD playback capable PC to test it to see if it still stutters. The actual mode does work (smooths out the video) but like I said, unwatchable with stuttering. Even without stuttering Its still a matter of opinion if you would want to watch a film this way.

Setup
Game mode: Off
Energy Saving Off
HDMI Black Level Low (Note I have my xbox 360 set to Standard black reference level here. If your 360 is set with a higher reference level, turn this off (see my next post for more detail.)

First of all why would you turn up sharpness for blu-ray movies? it does nothing for them, and dont get me started on EE.......leave that OFF!

You can put it on what ever looks best to you, those are calibrated Picture settings for standerd and movie.
If you dont like it you can always set it back to the default setting.
