I'm sure it will be optional. Would need to be in my opinion. F@H already has the ICON in place. Would be weird to see it LWP pop up on the XMB without the need for a firmware update!

Wow really? I've got a sh1tty rural connection (1.5MB) and it took like 20 minutes!

Something is not right with your ps3 or your connection then. It should never take that long. If you are downloading, you are still OK to shut off your ps3. I would restart your router and then try downloading again.

I live on the west coast and right now it's 9:20 pm. The update is available to download, but I haven't downloaded it yet. No news is on sony's website under the update section, but usually the update appears on the servers first, followed by sony's website. Doesn't sound like a major update, does anyone know the full details with this update? I always like to know what I'm getting with any update.

I just checked on sony's website, under the news section, the update is only minor, adding support for ps3 and ps1 games. That's it so unless anyone else has other information about this update, feel free to add to my post, it doesn't look like we're getting anything major.

If you scroll all the way to the left in the XMB, under users, was the "turn off system" always there? or is it new? I just now noticed it.

That was added when the in game XMB was added, I'm not sure if you can set it to turn off after a certain amount of time, but it's a nice little touch.

I still have 2.41 and it is there now, although I don't think it's been there for very long.

everyone needs socks.....and u never know, it could be cool socks with red strips or batman logos.....that would be a f'ing good xmas score!

im downloading now....im getting really pissed at DSL....takes forever....miss my cable when I was in NY....
