I agree with you completely. I thought he did the role perfectly as designed, him as basically a Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonder. He was funny, crazy, but still did intelligent actions.

What about a Bizarro Batman. He could wear a white suit and a goatee. What could make it hard is that he only commits crimes during the day.

I love Depp, i just don't think I can visualize Capt Jack as The Riddler.

I personally think Ryan Phillippe would make a fantastic Riddler. He is not so well known, but still on peoples radar (very much like Ledger). Would be great for the cyber terrorist angle if thats what Nolan is looking for.

yeah he was pretty good in that movie anti trust. he looks pretty smart with glasses on too. (not joking even tho it sounded that way)

Actually, you might have something there. Johnny Depp would be an obvious choice that would work really well... but, would Depp's portrayal be "different" enough from what we would expect? Would it surprise us? Or would we just be seeing a typical Johnny portrayal?

Ryan Phillipe is a fantastic actor who could really let loose with a role like the Riddler. And, I've been waiting for Phillipe to take on a role that isn't so straight forward and streamlined... break out of his shell, so to speak. Take his "Cruel Intentions" performance and put a psychotic spin on it. That could be very interesting to watch.

Well it sounds like the new Batman movie is going to be a Johnny Depp movie and not a Batman Movie. Don't get me wrong. I think Johnny Depp is a fantastic actor but I would rather not see him play this role.

I actually agree with some others that Jim Carey would do a great job if he reprised his role, the Riddler with a "23" Carey to it would be great

but Johnny Depp would rock too

I think Johnny would make a good riddler. but why are they trying to remake all the character that weren't that bad. the only batman they need to remake is the f***in Clooney one! Horrible!
