The original was a great zombie film, and certainly didn't warrant a remake like this.

I watched this on Netflix download thing, so I didn't have to waste a rental on it and I can watch as many as I want. It was pretty horrible.
You have a Roku box also? That thing was made for movies like this. I can now watch all the bad sci-fi/horror I want, and it's basically free. Of all the B movies I've watched lately, this one ranks as one of the worst. Haven't seen Starship Troopers 3 yet though.

Actually, I'm a die-hard Romero fan and the original "Day" is my favorite of the original trilogy and I LOVED it. Not as a Romero remake, but as a fun, entertaining zombie movie. It's not Snyder's "Dawn" Part II, but it is a load of fun and damn entertaining. I'll definitely pick it up on Blu!

I seriously don't understand how a fellow GAR fan could say such a thing. It baffles me.

The Day remake is the type of trash that gives GAR's movie a bad rep. Like he is somehow involved with this horrible "remake".

The Dudelson's (DAY OF THE DEAD 2, CREEPSHOW 3) and John Russo (NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD: 30TH ANNIVERSARY, CHILDREN OF THE LIVING DEAD)... have done far more harm to GAR's reputation than this single movie (which is a bad, soulless cash-in... but not outright awful. Though, paradoxically, the Dudleson's also had a hand in this remake -- which I think was them just signing over the rights for a chunk of change).

That's what I thought. That's so freakin' hilarious. Whoever thought that one up must have been smoking some bad weed.

With Nick Cannon, I can only imagine how bad this will be. He'll probably try and crack dumb jokes during the movie.

Same here. This is one of my favorites. I also dont see why it is being called a 'B' movie - Zombie Babies, Zombie Strippers and Poultrygeist - those are 'B' movies.

I think most of the hate comes from it just being named Day Of The Dead and then with Nick Canon being in it (which I kinda agree with that part), but it really is a decent zombie movie.

The original 'Day of the Dead' is my favorite of the original trilogy actually. I know. I'm weird. 'Temple of Doom' is also my favorite Indy flick.

I just read the review here after watching the film, and it mentions the audio commentary is better than the film and explains the whole "unloaded gun" thing. I got the Japanese blu used, and watched it pretty drunk. But I think they never explained the unloaded gun thing, and the JP disc looses the commentary. Now I don't know why I care...but for anyone that bothered with the commentary, what was the deal with the unloaded gun?
BTW, I also felt this was a reasonably entertaining "bad" zombie movie. Just don't bother comparing it to the original execept for a few nods it gives. As others pointed out this is a remake in name only, and also not a sequel to the Dawn remake, just a cheesy but entertaining enough cash in.

I haven't seen the Day remake but it's gotta be more entertaining than Diary of the Dead or Survival of the dead. Romero is doing a far better job ruining the reputation of the Dead films more than any sequel/remake has.

Survival > Day remake > Diary

Diary was just awful. Survival is mediocre but still slightly better than the day remake. Sadly, I don't know if Romero has the ability to make good zombie movies anymore. Land was his last decent one.

True on that last part.

Day of the Dead 08' is far better than Survival or Diary, IMO.

IMHO the '08 Day of the Dead gets unfairly maligned & compared to Romero's '85 original. These films are similar only in that they share the same name & are about Zombies - that's it. The storyline of the '08 film wasn't bad & was quite suspenseful.
