That's my suspicion (DC's are always on normal SD, since not enough people own Blu-ray computer drives as yet to use the files)--

The Amazon illustration shows "2-disk Blu-ray + DVD of the movie"--
And as the SD would likely include the DC file as well, it saves time mastering two different SD files...

who cares if the dvd comes with it, as long as the price is the usual, and its on blu ray... ...... im sure 95% of all blu ray player owners....most have a secondary dvd player in another room somewhere...more bang for your buck

As long as it doesnt cost more im down with it. My son is going through a phase where he loves to put the discs in so i could use a DVD version i suppose.

Would be stupid, especially if it cost more. Same as with digital copies, if it drives up cost then its stupid.

This is a great move on Disney's part.
My friends wife is one of those nuts(mean that in a good way). Driving up to the house the first thing you see is a Mickey Mouse flag. You walk in their house and it's wall to wall Disney. She can't wait for the Disney animation to start coming out. The first thing she asks me when I come in the door is have I heard of any new releases. They don't even have a Blu-ray player.

Anyway, like everyone is saying, this is a plus. You get the Blu-ray, the kids destroy, I mean get the DVD, everyones happy. Except Petra of course.

This is a day one purchase for me. My daughter absolutely loves this movie, and from what I've seen they remastered it beautifully. As for the DVD, I'm guessing it's an amazon exclusive digital copy, like one of you suggested.

I saw this a couple days ago.

It doesn't seem to be an error, and it's not very exclusive for an exclusive offer---disneyshopping.com and target.com are also listing the Sleeping Beauty Platinum BD as 2 BDs plus a bonus DVD of the film.

I have an email in to WDHE to find out if this is a limited offer or if it's a universal change.

Default I don't get it either.

Seems like a waste, wouldn't people that want it on DVD already have it on DVD for their kids?

My sister bought this ages ago on DVD. I have a Blu-Ray player and would like this title, but I don't want (or need) it on DVD.

Seems like a waste. I would like to know how many first time buyers of this movie are excited for this option. Are there any first time buyers out there that have been waiting on purchasing this movie but now will pull the trigger because they get a regular standard def DVD and Blu-Ray.

I just hope it isn't going to be an extra cost. I would rather have a digital download than a DVD. 'Course I still haven't redeemed my digital download of AVP-R.

You're obviously not the target market. This is the target:

If the DVD were always in print, or if new babies had ceased being born when it last went out of print, then---yes, everyone who wanted it on DVD for their kids would already have it.

If the kids ever handle the DVDs they like to watch, you can't go wrong with an extra anyway.

And the price has not changed---just what you get for the money.

Challenge her allegiance by claiming she is not a true Disney collector if she doesn't have a Blu-ray player and the Blu-ray version of this movie! That will make her jump ship

I pre-ordered this from Amazon when it was $22.95. In my Open Orders window it is described as Two-DIsc Platinum Set. That, of course, was the way it was described in the item itself at that time. Clicking on the link in Open Orders I'm taken to the current listing where it now says 3 Disc set with DVD. I don't think that this is an error; I think we'll get the two Blu-ray discs plus the DVD version. A great buy for those of us with kids to entertain.

Yes, it includes a DVD of Sleeping Beauty for essentially free. They snuck it into the press release I got in June and I guess I just didn't notice it.

And its not the first time it has been done - just the first time in the US. A lot of anime in Japan comes with both Blu-ray and DVD, and I believe Tartan did that in the UK?
