Hmm... I think I order it from Play. I have read good things about that French release.

Does it have the special features as well?
Just to confirm: The PQ is 1080p? Not 1080i50 like the Aussie version is said to be?

The Blu Ray has a mastering problem. Shadow detail is gone in all dark scenes, they are too dark, with severe black crush and oversaturated colors. Needs to be fixed and reissued.

Has this been completely confirmed? Have you seen the disc? I am slightly worried by the poster 'jjh' saying the disc had a mastering problem. I would like to import it though if that isn't the case.

It is very hard to reliable find info on the blu ray releases of this movie A review is badly needed.

According to the database, there are two (!) Canadian releases, one 1080i, one 1080p. Then there is a UK and Australian releases... and a HK release listed as 1080p on yesasia.com

EDIT: Ugh, and then there is a French version, I guess that's the one to get:

Thanks for chiming in Pro-B. I suppose you're saying that the UK's Icon disc is not after all a port of the TF1 release, which you were suggesting was the case in post #21?

No, the reason I recommend the French disc is because there are a number of advantages with it -- for example, if you have a projector you could adjust (move them in or out of the image frame) the subtitles, etc. Also, the UK disc is no longer available through Amazon.

Subtitles are not an issue for me (my player can move them, which I use a lot since I project on a scope screen). The movie was available from amazon.co.uk only yesterday! I still had it in my cart and amazon just said it was moved because it's not available. Perhaps it will reappear?

So it seems you're saying after all the PQ/AQ is confirmed to be the same (or close enough) between these releases?

Quite some time ago, when the UK disc was still in circulation, I took a look at it. The transfer was practically identical to the the TF1 one.

In case anyone is curious, the HK release has a French TrueHD 5.1 track and English subs (in the picture frame).

I have the 2 disc Australian release which lookes to be a port of the 2 disc UK release and going by the review and screenshots on this site, I would be very surprised if both arent a port of the 2 disc french set.

I was unaware that there is this UK release also exists and thought that there are only Aussie and French versions available of this movie. It is available from Amazon Marketplace Sellers for very cheap price. All I need to know that if I order from them will I get the two disc version (1 BD and 1 DVD) in spite of wrong info posted on Amazon about the BD?

Its now €14.98 on Amazon France but the UK version is very cheap at the moment. I think about 8 GBP. All I need to know that is the PQ and AQ of both identical? and what about the extras? Yes I checked the review but I need to ask from you guys who own this. It would be very easy and cost friendly for me to import from UK rather then France so I need your suggestion that should I go for the UK BD or for the French BD? Subtitles are not an issue as I am going to watch it on a LCD TV and not on projector.

From what I have seen (intros/screengrabs) the UK release is the same as the French release. It has forced English subtitles though. The film image is very dark and I'm not sure what it is you're expecting from the film or transfer. I never really fancied the film (always liked some of her songs) but when I saw a few clips and seen Olivier Dahan directed it I thought I'd give it a go. I actually have the Germany DVD of the first version by Claude Lelouch (Édith et Marcel)) of the film which also has English subtitles incidentally. I've not watched the DVD but do recall seeing it more than 20 years ago either at the cinema or VHS.

There is no 1 disc UK Blu-ray that I have ever seen. There is some sort of error by Icon themselves or a database but the UK title has the UPC of 5051429701233 and catalogue # ICON70123.

I can't image any seller listing the wrong item as Amazon goes by the UPC. Obviously some sellers put the wrong title in but since there is only one Blu-ray in the UK then there can't be a problem there too.

You getting this shipped direct or reshipped? It is £6.49 at HMV http://hmv.com/hmvweb/displayProduct...;-1&sku=851148 or if you can use eBay go with this seller http://www.ebay.co.uk:80/itm/180664340034 They have the correct picture, UPC and it's only £8.51. Mine came from HMV no problem.

Another excellent shipper worldwide (don't know if they do Dubai though) is MovieMail http://www.moviemail-online.co.uk/fi...a-Vie-en-Rose/ Keep that company in your bookmarks as they are very good.

Which UK stores ship to Dubai?

"La môme" means "the sparrow" I suppose -a reference to how she looks.

Thanks once again for the reply. Yes last night I purchased from HMV as it was damn cheap due to their summer sale. HMV ships to UAE and charge GBP 5 for a BD but it takes a long time (One month) for the item to reach to me. I am using a courier service which opened a P O box in UK, US and china on my behalf so now whenever I shop I give my UK address and the BD first goes there from the Seller and then from that address it comes to me in UAE and it takes maximum two days for an item to reach from UK to my door step. They charge about 7 GBP for half KG. So this BD will reach to me for 14 pounds which is not bad and I am very happy.

Regarding the transfer, I just think that they should have used a BD50 rather than a 25 GB BD! Anyhow I yet have to see the movie so I hope it will look and sound good.

Regarding your question, "Which UK stores ship to Dubai?". There are stores like Amazon, HMV, Ebay which ships to UAE but I don't have any tracking and sometimes it takes only a week and sometimes more than a month for an item to reach, usually its a month and very rarely I get something after a week and Tracking option is very very costly, Its ridiculous that they charge more price than the actual BD price for shipment with tracking lol. That is why I use this courier service for the peace of mind.

HMV did not send the BD yet as maybe they were closed on Sunday. I hope it will be sent tomorrow. I will let you know about it after watching the movie.

PS: I tried to write all letters complete

Watched the movie tonight with my wife. What should I say about the movie? You know there are some movies for which you cant find words to praise and this one is one of them. Its also one of those few movies that by the very first frame you can say to yourself this is going to be extraordinary. I must say that what a great performance by Marion Cotillard. I wasn't expecting her to play Edith Piaff this good. All the actors did great not to mention Marion. The Music, Cinematography was excellent and overall direction was awesome.

I give this movie a 9/10. The BD looks great. The only negative thing about the movie is that it made my wife cry and she cried many times during the movie! Glad to have it in my collection and if you people know such more movies out on Blu please do share.
