I don't like them.

I buy the Blu Ray to be able to enjoy movies in the best possible presentation. I have no desire to watch movies on cell phones.

Post DIGITAL COPYS - why?

Why have digital copys with a Blu-ray disc?

If you are buying Blu-ray, then you are obviously interested in picture quality and lossless audio.
So, why would I want a scaled down version of the movie without good audio?

This is just a bad marketing gimic. The only people that would be interested in such a low quality transfer would be the same people that bootleg movies by sitting in a theater with a handheld camera. And lets face it, those people aren't going to pay money for a digital copy, and they obviously aren't that into quality (so why would they be buying a Blu-ray).

Waste of space for me. Messes up the packaging. And I'm sure it adds to the cost of the package.

Well, for the most part I haven't had much use for them. That has recently changed slightly (well, sort of). I got a PSP about just shy of 2 weeks ago, along with a 2GB memory stick.

I had also just recently bought both Harold and Kumar movies on Blu-Ray, both of which came with digital copies. So, I figured I would test that out. But it turns out the digital copies were in WMV format, which isn't compatible with PSP.

Apparently there are programs out there that will transfer other file formats (like WMV) into a PSP compatible format, so I may look into that. I'd also like to find one that will rip DVDs for it.

I probably won't watch movies on it much, but when and if I ever travel, it will be nice to utilize.

Last year my wife and I flew to CA (and we live in IL) and I ended up brining along a portable DVD player (along with CD book with discs in it), and my Nintendo DS with the games for it. It did get to be rather cumbersome. It wasn't too bad then, but given the cost of checking bags on the plane, I would want to pack as light as possible in the future and carry on as much stuff as I can.

It will be nice to just consolidate everything as much as possible. I know there is custom firmware out there for the PSP that allows you to rip the games on to the memory stick, and I want to get set up with that. I know this sort of thing is frowned upon for piracy reasons. The thing is, I have no problem paying for the games outright (I've got 5 for it already and plan to get more), but it would be nice not having to juggle the discs around when I'm on the go. I would still want to physical discs available incase I ever decide to delete a game or if the memory stick were to get corrupted, etc.

So, it would be nice just to get one big memory stick (I believe 16GB ones are coming out soon) and put the games, movies, and music that I want on it be all set to go.

So, in that sense, I do have use for digital copies.

Having said that, I do hate when they have stupid banners like "Digital Copy Special Edition" on the covers of the movies. That is just stupid.

I do have a video Ipod, but I haven't loaded any of them on it. I really don't want to watch a movie on something so small. I have a PSP, but I haven't purchased any movies for it either. I usually only use my PSP at home to play games and my TV is there also, why would I want to watch a movie on that. If I am traveling, I don't have the time to be glued to a screen watching a movie. I probably won't use any of the digital copies.

1. The banner ruins the cover art.
2. Movies are getting marketed as "two disk special edition" but that stupid disk is just a DC.
3. Then after the movie is downloaded I have to keep it in the case because the disks are numbered! It's like having a useless disk! I could get rid of it but in five years i'll flip out and wonder what happened to my second disk!
This digital copy nonsense is just a total waste of an entire disc, which means on any title with this completely worthless feature they will never give you a genuine second disc.

I'm sure I speak for others though that have a PS3 as a blu-ray player and that have a PSP. Why can't they just figure out DRM already for the stupid systems so the PS3 can share a digital copy with the PSP without having to convert formats? They talked about this back in January 08 but it's pretty much D E A D. This double dipping is ridiculous, it's bad enough having to pay through the nose for the BDs. I have an iPod but I love the screen size and battery life of my PSP for video.

I have no interest in them at all (even though I have an MP3 player that they could work with)

If I buy a movie and want to watch it on the road, I'll take care of things myself.

I'm actually one of the few that think its a good idea to have digital copies IF you own an ipod. Having movies on your ipod can come in handy for traveling or for long road trips, or you can watch them while working out.

I take my ipod everywhere I go, and it would be a cool option to take all your favorite movies and music everywhere too. And now that gas is so expensive I will most likely be taking public transportation and may want to watch a movie on my way to school and work instead of just having the option to hear music. I love my ipod, lol.

I hear people saying that it ruins the cover art and they are right about that but it would be better if the studios put a sticker or something on the oustside shrik wrap instead of the cover art, but oh well.

I wish that all movies would now come with digital copies.

I have an Iphone and I love having my movies on the go. Just today I was sitting in a mediation and watched Jumper while the mediator was barking at the other party in another room.

All these folks complaining about the packaging are downright hilarious. Who gives a shit what the packaging looks like? Do you buy a movie for the packaging or for the movie itself? I can imagine these people searching on Amazon.."hhmmm, I really hated [insert movie so not to offend anyone]...but man, that packaging kicks ass, time to buy it"
