why do you need to exchange it?

For those who are using 3G now, or have had used 1G/2G, how fast does the battery run out? the stores say like more than 48 hours of standing time and 24hours of talk time.. which sounds like bull to me, especially when i have had bad experience with the iPods. I use my phone quite a lot and I'd have it if it runs out of battery on a friday night when I use the phone quite a bit in BOTH day and night.

Unless you mean Customer Service... Then they are still ahead of the curve, IMO.

BTW, T-Mobile (what I have now) and AT&T both sucks really bad in north and central jersey.. seriously, real bad. I have 1 bar at most most of the time when I am in the house in north jersey, and 2-3 bars if I am outside the in the yard or something. (no, i dont live in a basement nor a concrete house/apartment). Just a standard ranch house.

There has been an issue with the left side of the screen, the chrome part doesnt fit properly and there is some light peeking out down parts of the left side...mine had the problem, and i got it replaced and it still has the same problem so im going to wait as long as possible to get another replacement. The battery is bull at the moment, i find my battery 1/4 or 1/2 full by 8-9 pm and i have to charge it everynight...and i dont use it as much since im not back in school yet...not alot of music being played, not alot of web browsing, no bluetooth, i have shut off nearly everything but 3G...

let me get this straight..

so you..

dont play music as much
dont talk as much (for now)
dont surf as much

and your battery would still drain to 1/2 or even only 1/4 full after 1 full day?

Thanks for the input. I just do not beleive the people at apple store now.

I am on the edge of just getting one for the sake of getting one.... but then if the battery drains as fast as i think you're saying, and the more you charge, the faster it drains in the future... my question...... why the hell are ppl still buying it and tie themselves with a 2 year contract when the phone probably last you 6 month for heavy users?? sure, you can buy a full warranty to get it replaced, but whats the point?!

If Apple fixes their battery issue, or make it self/user- replacable, i'd jump on the iPhone (it looks cool).

I hardly talk on the phone..ever...im more of a text messaging person myself...i dont listen to music for maybe 40 mins if that, until i go back to school i dont need to surf the web as much because i just got an 18.4" laptop yesterday replacing my Apple iBook...but the more i have been charging it the better it has gotten believe it or not lol. i used to have the original iPhone and gave it to my mom...to do a little comparison i checked the 'usage' of her phone and she had something like 10 1/2 hours usage and 5 days and i cant remember how many hours standby, but she barely uses it for anything but a quick phone call and to play super monkey ball, lol

looking at my phone right now the usage is at 1 hour exactly and the standby is 5 hours 32 minutes, since my last full charge...so i think it is getting better.

hey, you're in NJ!?

Where in NJ?

I had very bad reception with AT&T before, (I am on T mobile now). (North Jersey, Englewood cliff area)

How's reception for you?

yea battery cell phones sometimes can require a month or so of charging before you really get the best out of it

i find it best to at first let the Battery Die completley before charging again

Yup, I'm in NJ I'm in Clifton, not far from NYC at all, maybe 15 minutes with minimal traffic, i have really good reception, always have, I was on rt 80 this afternoon and had full bars with 3G, no 3G around my house, but that is what wifi is for, if i go into montclair, boom 3G...for me it depends where i go i guess. It is a definate improvement over when i first got my 3G because i had little 3G coverage around me, maybe 1-2 maybe 3 bars.

But anyway...as for Edge i normally have 4-5 bars 3G on the other hand goes from 2-4 ...but those are just from what i have seen by looking at my phone at random times

Every area is different from what I am reading. The last few posts I made in this thread were from my iphone. While I was driving. Lol. Terrible I know.

Other than my house having signal issues, I get 3-full bars everywhere I have gone today. Even sitting here at work where there is no signal for Verizon, I have signal for AT&T.

To each their own. I don't mind a few quirks. If their service does not improve in another 6-12 months, I will drop them. Pretty simple

I love the phone, features and all it can do. LOVE IT! Verizon was a fool for not picking it up.

isnt the exclusive contract good til like 2010? Lol... but they are on the 2nd 'version' now...just saying...

Also, just randomly putting this i here...if Apple does make another iPhone in the next 6 months and drop the price again, by adding a 32GB iPhone...well...I dont know what i would do...but it wouldnt be good concerning apple, lol..
Likelihood of that happening though...better be 0,

Yeah, i was thinking the same about the 32GB model...I dont have much use for 32GB, I have the 16GB now...but it would give me an excuse for my dad to get the new one since he is the only one in my house who is iPhone-less at the moment, lol

Would do something similar. I would give my 16 to my brother and take a 32. I also heard rumors of a 32 out by the end of the year-ish. Not sure how true that is though.

I bought the original iPhone the day it came out, loved it. Then, I stood in line 8hrs for the iPhone 3G 16 Black, and love that more. I gave the GF the original one. I'll never get another phone. iPhones are the best thing since sliced bread.

Video is the only thing that disappoints me. However, you can record video with it jailbroken.

There isn't a phone out there with an interface near as good as the iPhone. My brother wanted an iPhone but for the coolness factor of copying me he wouldn't get one, so he bought an LG Dare. What a mistake that piece of crap is.

I don't think I could agree with you more. xinfinity

They can imitate the iPhone, but never duplicate it =)

The only way it would happen for me though is if the 32 is $299. I wouldnt pay $399. I paid $399 for my original 8GB iPhone
