During mid-2007, Paramount was still neutral and both Blu-ray and HD DVD versions were set for day-and-date releases with the DVD on July 24th, 2007. Before that day came, Paramount delayed both high-def versions to September 18th, to 'add special features' I believe.

Before THAT day came, Paramount decided to do a director's cut version of Zodiac, and postponed both high-def versions to coincide with the new Director's Cut standard definition DVD in early 2008. And before THAT day came, Paramount went HD DVD exclusive, so only the DVD and HD DVD versions were released on January 8th, 2008.

Now that Paramount is back with Blu-ray, they are attempting to catch up on all HD DVD-exclusive titles. Zodiac has been shown in promotional material, and some sites cite a tentative October 2008 release date for it. While exact details aren't known at this time, it definitely appears to be coming soon.

So really, it was never "forgotten" - it's just had an extremely tumultuous release schedule. Hopefully it's coming for real soon.

Whats funny is there might be a break in the case, I read a few days a go police have new DNA evidence that might prove who the Zodiac is.

Congratulations on finding links.

Still, the director's cut was never announced for BD, thus never delayed. That is what we're getting on BD. You, like many of us, will have it in our hands before the year ends.

Who asked about the Director's Cut? I wanted a BD release period. Miscommunication - no need for snarkiness.

I might consider the import, but from what folks are saying, the audio will be better on the domestic BD that is in the works.

I just watched the Australian release of Zodiac Directors Cut and it was awesome. The documentaries on it were incredible also. Gave me the willies.

Yeah I read about that as well while I was researching the Black Dahlia case.

I am still looking foward to adding it to my collection. However, the movie has been released for a while now, and most people are only interested in the "new".

I think Zodiac and Dahlia are the two biggest murder mysteries ever. Think both killers alive?

Zodiac was terrible, so it has been forgotten in my book.

I agree. The Black Dahlia case is the creepier of the two because it appears to be a one time random crime.

I've been intrigued by both cases because I used to live in the Vallejo Benicia areas (Zodiac) and now I live like 10 minutes from where Elizabeth Short's body was found. If you're interested in the Black Dahlia case google Larry Harnisch. He's an editor with the LA times who's researched the Dahlia case for over 10 years. He has an interesting theory on who the Black Dahlia killer is. I've corresponded with him recently via email in regards to his theory because there were some discrepancies but overall he has a strong case.

Anyways sorry to go off topic. Zodiac would be a first day purchase for me on Blu-Ray. I only wish there was an accurate movie about the Black Dahlia case as well.
