I think it's more along the lines that you would somehow use the policy to "get back" at them, it is their policy, it's not sticking it to them at all.

But I think a lot of people who constantly complain about Best Buy's prices have never ventured into an independent movie store. Not that I'm here to argue corporate vs indie stores but you'd almost think Best Buy was giving you a deal. They aren't great, but they do have the occassional good sale like this $10 off and their $14.99 and $19.99 BD sales they currently have going on.

It is rarely the cashier's fault that the product isn't there. The orders go into the warehouse, they warehouse employee picks the order and then acknowledges the order (which sends you the email). The catch here is that the warehouse's are ranked by the time it takes them to pick that order. So order is acknowledged before it is picked, a lot of the time.

No I don't work for corporate, but I did work for Best Buy in college. I believe that every American should have to work fast food and retail. I cut them a lot of slack because I know what they go through.

Well, she came back with the order in less than a minute but they were the wrong items, SD DVDs. I told her and she radioed someone to pick up the blu-rays.

After a couple of minutes I asked her if I qualified for the $10 refund. She nodded without even looking at me.

Nice boys do finish first.
I went in to pick up my order and I took the ad from Frys with me, I know two dollars, but two dollars is two dollars, the guy at the customer service counter thought that frys had them both for a total of 23.99, so he adjusted the price down to 11.99 each and refunded my credit card back 16.00, so my total bill for both was 25.96

i've never worked in retail, but agree we have to see things from BB perspective. for example, there are countless examples in threads on this site of people bragging how they took advantage of weak cashiers, such as a coupon for BOGO "standard" DVD's which they got the cashier to apply for blu. to each their own, i'm not judging, but perhaps BB has defensive postures for a reason?

No one held a gun to BEST BUYs head and said ... Give me 10.00 for the standards they are trying to enforce.

If they mess up then they pay simple as that. If Best Buy has an issue with the program they will end it.

I just wish some people worked there that new real film instead of the latest no brainer that came out. You ask for something like Cool Hand Luke they haven't a clue.

But i agree those jobs arent easy but some film knowledge would be cool.

Good thing he was only an exception to their policy.

If he were the majority, the policy would not exist.

Which has absolutely nothing to do with asking them to follow through on their own policy. The OP was (apparently) polite throughout the process, so he's "cutting them some slack". He could have been rude (like your posts!) on top of it.

Cheers to the OP for getting a good deal. They've always brought mine to the counter very quickly at the store I go to, but I always keep an eye on the time just in case.

Yes, Fry's in the SF bay area (worked both in Sunnyvale & Palo Alto) has the $10 off if you buy both Kill Bill 1 & 2, takes their advertised price of $23.99 down to $18.99 a pice.
Additionally they have the sticker for $10 off if you own the SDVD.

The only real exception to this is if they pull the order wrong. Which they did here. I just have a problem trying to trick them and think you are doing a good thing. It is a great deal for the OP, but it is a dumb policy.

what I meant was taking Frys advertised price and have BB match it. Will their $10 off still kick in.

If it affected their paycheck then I would cut them ALOT of slack but since it is the "stores" policy I don't care.
