You must be a left-wing journalist. You terribly misquoted the second quote. He meant that he LIKES jRPG game play, like FFX, FFX-2, but NOT FFXII. I personally didn't mind the FFXII game play, and I loved Rogue Galaxy (whoever doesn't like the Final Fantasy games, didn't like Rogue Galaxy, should NOT be playing these types of games at all.) I'm looking forward to both games, but I'm sure FFXIII will be even more action-based than FFXII, and White Knight Story is looking more and more Oblivion-esque. We'll see. I don't care much about the play style, as long as I enjoyably waste lots and lots of time for my $60.

So if you run around in a big world, it's Oblivion-esque?

What RPG isn't like that?

Well.

Dragon Quest 8 > Final Fantasy X
Rogue Galaxy > Final Fantasy 12

Level 5 > Square.

its pretty obvious.

WKC > FF13.

If the fighting style on 13 is the same as it was on FF12, then I won't even buy the game which would make it pretty easy for WKC to be better. If Square has done some work on the fighting system, then I think FF13 will win hands down.

Don't forget the story also deliver on the win. If it doesn't, (which I hope it does) then that sucks.

DQ8...never grabbed me. I played maybe 15 hours in but never turned it on again. ACME generic speechless main characters aren't really my thing.

Rogue Galaxy...I got all the way to the last area and my save corrupted. It was my fault, but I'd done all the sidequests and whatnot so I have no interest in ever touching that game again. I did like it though.

FFX was good. Not great, but good. I loved Rikku and found the depressing theme a welcome change to the light-hearted games that make up 90% of the market. Even if FFX-2 somewhat undoes some of the impact...

FFXII is probably the best RPG I have ever played, and I have played them all. The characters, the drama, the atmosphere...everything was brilliant. It was the first RPG that felt like it was a real world that had existed long before you started playing there. Aside from a minor beef with the fact you don't have access to all the Gambits out the gate I'd say 12 was arguably the only RPG I can think of that I sang praise for and actually wanted to replay immediately after completing it.

Iono, FFXIII looks amazing but they have only shown a miniscule portion of the game. I remember when FFVIII was still a year away and they were posting videos of the summons and everything. And that was before YouTube existed!

I think Square has lost sight of the idea of building hype. They just...assume that their name will sell their stuff. And to many, it will. But they talk about rising development costs and needing to make back what they put in, and yet they are cutting the corners most focused on the numbers: The previews!

I don't know if you're trying to say this or not, but Rogue Galaxy is a Sony IP, not SE.

This is the first I am hearing about White Knight.

When I threw Final Fantasy XII in for the first time, I was blown away by the cut scenes and then really disappointed by the control. (It just felt so foreign).
About a week later, I was eyeBALLS deeeeeep in my first 32 hour session of the game and was hooked. Final Fantasy XII is the first FF game I have ever taken the time to get 100% on and so I am very much looking forward to XIII.

(ps- I was on my way to 100% of X and I forgot what made me stop???
I did get Onion Knight though which was somewhat of a religious experience and for weeks afterward, if a light flickered, my button finger twitched.)

Oh, I know. I was just referencing the games I'd seen mentioned.

Well tune in to TGS 2008(October), they are gona show gameplay there and more info!

Ok here is some info, for those who don't know what to expect from White Knight Story.

PS3 Fanboy Article:

Quote:
The player customization is exactly what we wanted to hear -- you create a character to travel with the main party. That means we've still got a static main character and other party members, but you create your own self-image to travel with them. This is a fantastic move, if you ask us. Our reasoning is complicated, but if you're curious enough, we might type up a rant about it should it be requested. This character customization mechanism was actually used to create the main protagonist as well as over 1,000 NPCs.

Finally, gameplay. Level 5 indicates that, aside from the White Knight transformation, battles will play out similar to Rogue Galaxy. We've noticed a few subtle differences, though. Battles seem more organized in pacing, less "mash square and triangle" like RG often forced us to do. It was square and triangle, right? Been a while. What we really think was meant in this comparison was this: action-based RPG battles with seamless loads between battles and map-wandering. The crutch of a standard hard drive in the PS3 will help in shattering any sort of load times and we believe if anyone can pull it off, it should be Level 5. We'll keep you posted with more details as they arrive.

Just wait to see the graphics on FFXIII if any of you thought XII was good. For the storylines, I'm never too impressed with the cheesy dialogue;like most rpgs have. I just hope the battle system for XIII isn't like XII or I'm not getting it. There should be a demo coming out before its release; that'll save me a lot of money.

EXACTLY CAddy. I'd love to see an updated version or part 2 to Skies Of Arcadia or the OLD school phantasy stars. I know they remade them but never released them in the USA. Like always, we get screwed while Japan gets all the good stuff. I thought they were remaking ff7 8 and 9.

I think WKC will be alot better then FFvs.13 but i dont know Noruma the creator of KH games is making FFvs.13 and it looks alot more darker to me its tough Level 5 and companies like Atlus already made games that are far better then anything Square could ever achive, but Noruma is good.
