lol?

I purchased my previous two units at BB. It is an exchange. Quite easy as well. Go into store and get unit NOW, not when Amazon delivers it.

I'm also in Canada. Amazon.com has it for $339.98 right now. Factor in shipping with that and how much does it come to?

Just went to BB, did a simple exchange and got the 350 for $349.99.

Seems I did OK...lol...off to hook it up now...

I am exchanging the 1500 for the Sony 350. Don't want the PS3, but the 350 should do me fine. I've read numerous things that have stated the 350 is better at DVD upconversion than the 1500 anyway, so that will be a plus as well.

Off to BB I go...
Wise decision. Really. And don't forget to keep your eye out on the price reduction that is rumored to be coming shortly. If it's within the 30 days that BB has for price matching, make sure you get the refund. I've heard that the S350 will be reduced in price by about $100 (but can't confirm this).

Thanks.

Wonder if that price match counts from today's date or the orginal date of purchase of the Sharp unit? The receipt that I have now has today's date on it.

Kudos to BB for that.

Do you own any? I do agree, that they were. Samsung has definitely tried, and succeeded in changing their image, especially their TV's. Their BP still have a way to go, but for the price they can't be beat. I have had absolutely no problems with my BP, and I'm getting sick of all these people who own PS3's thinking their machines are the only ones that can play blu-ray movies. A friend of mine has a PS3 and he tried his out on my set-up and both of us could tell absolutely no difference in sound or picture quality. So just give it a rest already.

Yeah, I agree. I really liked the 1500. The looks, size, playback, all good. Just don't want to have to deal with waiting for firmware to play new movies.

Seems they are getting better, but not there quite yet.

I liked the looks of my 1500 better than this Sony 350. The 350 looks cheaper and is smaller.

But, at the end of the day, the most important thing to me is playback. If I put a disc in and it doesn't play, well, that's all that matters.

Well you cannot cover all bases obviously as new movies are continually released. Try your best with movies from each studio, the different audio tracks, etc etc within the 30 day period! Word to the wise!

You do realize that this title hasn't officially been released yet so the player probably plays all officially released titles. I'm sure an update is going to make it's way out before the official street date of 09/30.

I have a ps3 and a Samsung BDP-1400 and have not had any issues in regards to playback. The few times I couldn't play a disc all I had to do was update the firmware, which was available, and ten minutes later I'm all set.

Yes, of course I realize this, but the fact of the matter is, I have seen many more people have playback issues with Samsung than I have with Sony. Many more...

So you think that Samsung are being street date police? I highly doubt that. There are a lot of threads reporting problems with many titles on the Samsung 1400 and 1500 models.

Kind of concerned about this because I just bought the BD-P1500 and I will be getting a copy of Iron Man when it is officially released.

Anyone with a BD-P1500 have Iron Man already and have you gotten it to play?
Iron Man does not play on my BD-1500. Getting rid of this player, meaning the garbage pail.

Sorry to hear that. I'm glad I exchanged mine then for the Sony 350. Nothing worse than buying a movie and not being able to watch it.

I watched War on the 350 tonight and it performed flawlessly.

Still like the outside looks of the 1500 better, but that's not what counts when it comes to playing movies now does it.

The 350 is the "2.0 ready" player, yes? Have they issued the update to make it 2.0 compliant? Just curious.

Yes, it is 2.0 ready but as for the 2.0 update being issued, not that I'm aware of. I could be wrong though. I've only owned the unit for half a day.
