All BLU-RAY players have analog left and right stereo outputs. All manufactories have to place this on all BLU-RAY players since many people don’t have surround systems and they need these jacks to hook the BLU-RAY player directly to a older HDTV display that does not have HDMI. Also some people have old 2 channel stereo systems that require the stereo analog output since they have not invested in a surround system yet. Yes the S300 will have at least one digital output and most likely two. I do not know when pictures will appear. When pictures appear then we will know for sure if there is two or just one digital outputs, etc. I am sure some people would like 7.1 channel analog output for advanced content.
All you need to connect any BLU-RAY player every made is an old 480I TV or display with a composite video input with at least one audio input. That would be a waste of money on a BLU-RAY player to connect to a non HDTV TV.. One can go buy a cheap 30 inch widescreen CRT HDTV TV at Walmart with HDMI for $448 to get around 720P quality. A 27 inch CRT non widescreen HDTV can be purchases at Walmart for $349. So most likely most people purchasing BLU-RAY players will be hooking up to a HDTV display with at least a component input for 720P or 1080I quality.

Thanks for all the info. I really have my heart set on Sony's KDL40XBR2 LCD set. It's BEAUTIFUL! It has 3 HDMI inputs, as well as Component, Composite and S-Video inputs. And the picture is to die for!!!!!
I'm looking to get my very first flat-panel TV, but it's possible that I may settle for Sony's 26" non-XBR BRAVIA model. It's a NEAT set, nice and bright with great picture all-around -- typically good Sony.

Sony LCD TV + Blu-Ray player =

P.S. When someone gets pics of the BDP-S300, please put them up on the forum!

The new player will output full 1,080p resolution over its HDMI v1.3 output at 24 fps. It will also up convert images to 1,080p format. HD component video outputs are also added for older HDTV displays.
Sony said the player will support forthcoming AVC-HD discs encoded with xvYCC technology that expands the available color gamut 1.8 times. Also included is the BRAVIA Theater Sync system that uses HDMI connectivity to integrate the operation of a series of connected BRAVIA components through a single remote.
Other features include multichannel linear PCM digital audio output via HDMI and can decode Dolby Digital Plus sound tracks.
Support is also included for BD-ROM, BD-Java, AVC-HD, DVD video, CD audio, MP3 audio files and JPEG photo files stored on DVD recordable media, including the DVD+R/+RW and DVD-R/-RW formats.”
When are we going to see the Sony player in Australia????

I just purchased the BDP-S300 from a local box store for $499.99.

I pulled it out just for you to photograph the rear of the unit. Enjoy.

I am REALLY sorry about the images being so wide. I though I could solve this by trimming it down, but it did not work. It does give great detail though! Please forgive me!

Phil
