well its sad that some of these big trade threads are gone,, I miss Pinoy's already,Plus all the imports and steelbooks we'll be missing. I guess its because all that business ran thru this site without the man getting a cut, hmm didn't you guys ever hear of kickbacks?

well I had ordered my TDK steelbooks through the amazon.de link so they would get credit, but I guess you are right. I have since cancelled that order. Honestly its not that big of a deal, just annoys me as I always looked after the forum and reported the unnecessary spam, etc in the hot deals are. I guess that stuff is unappreciated and reporting it was more of a nuisance than anything. There always has been Amazon for me

i feel the same way J dub. i'm probably one of the biggest thread derailers on the site but i always report unnecessary posts/threads/spam. still feels unappreciated. the day they killed your store, is a very sad day for bluray.com. just wanted to let you know that everything you did for me was appreciated.

how about adding extra privilleges for volume sellers for a small fee like a vendor section/status instead of deleting threads?wouldnt that be a win-win situation for the site owner and sellers?

i don't think that's so much the problem. otherwise they'd delete half the trade threads in that section as these 2 are not the only ones to sell sealed movies.
it's unfair really.

I already consider this site second to HDD, I guess just another reason to visit here less as I really only come here for trade and good buys (group buys, steelbook etc).

Search in the Feedback forum, we've had this exact problem many times.

1. The trading forum is meant for trading, but we also accept that you sell your discs that you don't want anymore.
2. If you are selling a very wide range of items and are selling multiple quantities of the same item, you are obviously not just selling your own used stuff. We've been very relaxed about this anyway, but when it reaches a certain point it's not a trading thread anymore, you've set up a shop.
3. Relaxed means it has been going on for over a year and for over 1000 posts, try doing the same thing on any other forum and see what happens.
4. When you have set up a shop, it's for your own financial gain.
5. We removed a few large scale threads and in jwbbud's specific case, he was selling a wide range of items, multiple quantities of items and also doing some sort of parallel import of The Dark Knight (that we didn't benefit any from). There's a pretty big problem with TDK: since it's not available on Amazon.com yet, we can't sell it ourselves. We are trying to have reviews of all BD movies available, including bad titles, import titles, obscure titles and even small audio titles. Doing reviews costs money and that cost is actually larger than what we make from selling the movie for the majority of movies! We do this because we want to provide a professional service and we are able to do this because a few hit titles generate a lot of money that make up for the other titles/reviews. TDK is of course such a movie.
6. Since we don't have any other advertising on the whole site and forum (please compare with any other consumer site), if we don't sell movies, we can't finance the reviews and the site and have to shut down. It's that simple.
7. If you want to trade or sell your personally used BD products on our site, no problem at all.
8. If you want to sell lots of products and products unrelated to BD, just make your own site/homepage.

4. You are not allowed to have advertising or advertising links in your signature.
Otherwise you could just have 30 ghost persons posting in the forum from different IPs/computers and link/advertise their own site. Links such as dvdspot.com links or any other "non-commercial" links are fine.

I almost never check there myself. jwbbud PM:ed me about some other thread in the Trading/Hot Deals forum and then I took a quick look and removed the "large scale" threads.

so buying from amazon.de through the link doesnt benefit you guys? It sure had your forum tag on it when I placed the original order?
http://www.amazon.de/Batman-hochwert...3422861&sr=8-2
I always bought everything through links via the forum as a way to say thanks, granted I dont buy alot of movies but those 50.00 Mario Karts go alot further than a 15.00 movie

Anyways point taken, I apologized once and Ill apologize again for doing it. Theres a couple other threads on the forum who are doing the same at this time.

Actually for some reason your amazon.de link wasn't tagged... must have been broken somehow, but I'm sure you had good intentions. However, iNCREDIPINOY for example were doing several hundreds of those TDK imports so I just moved all similar threads offline.

And no worries
We just want to make the site as good as possible for our members and at the same time make sure the site goes around, there's a fine line

Does Blu-ray.com benefit from pre-orders? If so to cancel my preorders and re-order through the link.

Ya i was thinking that or also if a link is clicked through the hot deals forum, does blu-ray.com get credit from those as well?

Read the thread, agreed/disagreed some.

Blu-ray.com is "almost" the official blu-ray website for blu-ray community and it will only get bigger as time goes on. I do agree that the trade forum is for people doing casual trading and maybe minimum store-selling.

In Pinoy/Jwbbud case, they seem to be the big 2 in the trade forum, but even though you, Iceman, said that they dont benefit the forum. Maybe, not financially on paper, but I think they do benefit this site quite a bit.

I, for example, started here knowing no one and only checked Trade/Hot Deal forum mostly and some news. These people offer very good alternatives to Amazon/half.com or in-store for BD. Now, because of this, I am checking this forum more often than not and I am sure many people are the same.

Now, that is some indirect benefit they have created and site traffic is everything to a prolonged website.

I am not dismissing the great job blu-ray.com team has done, but the major seller's role cannot really be dismissed as well IMO. After all, MANY people here are

1) check bargain first.
2) check news second.

They also promote BD and promote people to click here to link to Amazon, etc, to help out.

So, instead of just deleting and banning from selling on the website, why not negotiate with the major sellers to let them help blu-ray.com promote and maybe BD.com gets some sort of compensation (whether through a commission-based fee or a fixed contribution) for them to stay?

Now, I am not saying this for Pinoy or Jwbbudd, but for ALL future major private BD sellers.

This site is Icemans?! lol all this time i was wondering "who's is it anyhow?"

good to know ^^

a suggestion, on a large car forum in my area (40k+ members revscene.net) we have people selling their goods as well

but for those that setup shop they have to sponsor the site.

just a thought? might be good for the site if the shop owners became sponsors or donated at least to the site
