Amen brother! I'd say the above wire should be ok for your rear speakers. Speaker wires really make a difference.

I put on a CD and switched the amp to Mono (so the same audio comes from both channels) then used the fader to turn it to the left (10 gauge) and right (14 gauge) and without telling him which was which, he preferred the 10 gauge wire on the left, saying it sounded like it gave tighter bass and a little bit more definition
do you think i can use 4 awg speaker wire for my speakers?
and yeah thats right i said 4 awg speaker wire.

You can and it shouldn't adversely affect the audio quality, but how do you plan to terminate the wire? Banana plugs and spades are made for smaller gauges and almost certainly won't fit.

Plus, it's a ***** to work with 4 ga wire.

i will go bare wire, thats the only way it would fit, i tried it!
a friend of mine selling me 25 feet of 4 gauge wire for 20 dollars. i guess he stold it, i dont know!
so i would not have any problem in the world then besides fitting the wire into my terminals, right?

Why would you buy stolen goods and say you're going to buy stolen goods on the internet?

I can read. It's just I wondered why you were going to buy wire that could possibly be stolen and you didn't care if they were stolen or not.

If you are referring to these, they are sold in pairs...two 8 ft cables cost $38.

Truthfully, the Red Dawns are $800/pr at 2 meters (MSRP)so 1.5 pair is about $1200 But they're worth every penny. They're so good that I am now contemplating on going higher up Nordost's chain.

I don't blame you! I love my Nordost Frey interconnect (between turntable and preamp), and my next upgrade (after the speakers I'm on the cusp of buying) will be to replace my pre to power interconnects and speaker cables with Frey.

Kevin will make whatever you want and will set the cables up as a biwire. His products are great and will outperform some very expensive cables (I have special versions of the cables and both I and Dave Schulte of the Upgrade Company have listened to them and other expensive cables). Kevin had some flooding issues and loss of equipment a while back but should be back in production shortly. I am waiting for a special subwoofer cable. Send Kevin an e-mail for what you want, he will respond a bit slowly and you may need to remind him if you don't hear.

Rich
As I mentioned earlier, these cables will outperform very expensive cables; we are talking about cables that may be 10X their price and even more (perhaps on the order of $750 to $2000 per 3 meter length of wire- that is for each wire). That will include things like the Nordost already mentioned. Kevin uses only very high end parts, wire, connectors, etc.

Take a look at either of these again from Kevin in Taiwan:

http://tinyurl.com/5fc579

http://tinyurl.com/5soryw

They sell for $80 and $110 respectively in 1 meter length. They perform on the order of $2000 to perhaps $2500 or more Interconnects.
