Default Thor Casting

I like Craig but the size is an issue.

A previous poster mentioned HHH I think out of all the Marvel characters Thor needs a physically impressive person playing the role so wrestler's jump up the list. 45% of wrestling is now mic. skills. And Triple HHH is pretty good pick overall but how do you mix his acting skills with Robert Downey Jr. & Ed Norton (Marvel casting so far.)

It's Thor - no doubt an action movie so the size and athletic ability of the person cast is more important than their ability to act. They can just do like the Wachowski bros did with Neo and make him speak very little The Matrix was flippin' sweet. I think a wrestler or bodybuilder would be good as well. Perhaps the previous Mr. O, Jay Cutler:

Triple H is a great choice to play Thor VISUALLY.

The problem with wrestlers with good mic skills is that they are essentially playing an exagerated version of themselves; a character they designed.

When wrestlers go hollywood, it never works out...UNLESS you make Thor allllll about the business and give him no dialogue.

While we are still "what if-ing" and as long as we are putting viasuals out there, I still think Zakk Wylde would be perfect.

Probably can't act worth a damn, but he would make awesome posters and the beard is already there.

ALSO. They need two different actors, one for Thor and One for his alter ego. They should be completely different. (I have also said this many times about Batman and Bruce Wayne.)

If you wanted to go someone who looked the part and had about the acting ability of a wrestler, then they could just cast Kevin Sorbo.

I like mr. craig as the new bond but this is not the right role for him .. thankfully he understood his limitations as well.

What about Mickey Rourke?

He has the size and blonde hair and can act somewhat. They would just need to put in hair extensions (which is done all the time now).

I'm always a fan of lesser-knowns for the role of superheroes... otherwise it's hard to see the character through the actor... (See Affleck in Daredevil, whereas Jackman was money as Wolverine)....

That said. I've always thought University of Iowa Defensive lineman Mitch King would make a good Thor... obviously out of left field, but as a Hawkeye fan, I've just kind of always thought that, lol.

I will see this movie but I don't think it will be as good as other marvel films at its same level. I think that both Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk are and are going to be better films then this. Thor just never caught me as a cool super hero. And I doubt that a wrestler will play thor because marvel is really getting into hireing the best actors for their films. Known or Unknown. Who ever it is don't worry because they will pull it off. Most of the time they do with few exeptions. They woulden't blow a movie this big.

Default Karl Urban As Thor

Thor should be played by KARL URBAN. Let's bet. I think he'll get it if he's not too busy playing McCoy on Star Trek. He was good in Lord of the Rings

I also think Craig is and looks too old for the part anyways...

They also said that Thor would be a med student, so the actor should be agile and look the part. http://comicbookmovie.com/thor/news/?a=5055

Debunked

"I have no idea about Thor. I just was having a joke!" - Daniel Craig

Quote:
IESB reported that Craig had turned the role down, but Craig clarified in an interview today that it was just a joke. "I have no idea about Thor. I just was having a joke!"

Craig told the story in response to my question about his newfound fame, and how every offhand remark he makes gets reprinted as a story about Bond. Craig said he knows to watch what he says from now on, which means we probably won't get another crazy rumor about him being offered a role in The First Wives Club 2 or something. It's a shame; he could have made my job a lot more fun.

Well, not all wrestlers are bad actors. Dewayne "The Rock" Johnson and Kevin Nash do pretty good. I know they're rare exceptions.

Not a bad pick, but they probably want a bigger name to attract interest.

The trouble in casting for Thor is you need someone who can act in the role of dr. Blake but then have the built to be Thor. Remember that he is 6 foot 6 and muscular but not overly so. Kevin Sorbo would have had the body for it back 12-15 years ago but he is a bit older now. Thor doesn't have to have the 22 inch bicep of Arnold to look powerful. He is a god so he is powerful no matter what. You need a tall guy with a good shape body but there is no need to go pick wrestlers who are most often just over done with vein's popping out everywhere.

Go look for a late 20's early 30's tall unkown I would say, like they did with Christopher Reeves in 1976 casting Superman

If by "pretty good" you mean "painfully bad" then yes, you're correct.

I figure if they could do the makeup for Marv, then hair extentions for Thor wouldn't be too bad.
