Crazy, just crazy ............
It got a Special Edition DVD even though it didn't do well in theaters. I'm sure Warner Bros. is perfectly aware of what they have.

In which case, why no Blu-ray release?

I don't know, I wish I did . The SE DVD was released when The Incredibles was released, and since both are animated and made by the same director, it's an obvious tie-in. But since Brad Bird has gone on to live-action, who knows when? I doubt that it will be released in conjunction with Mission: Impossible IV. But still, it was popular enough to get a decent Special Edition DVD, so I'm sure it'll be released on Blu-ray eventually.

The original HD master was struck at 1080i, and was deemed unsuitable for Blu-ray/HD-DVD release by Warner back in 2008. So they will have to remaster like they did with the recent Blu release of Maverick. In the meantime the "1080p" (1080i) master can be found for rental on VUDU and Netflix. I would assume it will come out on Blu in 2012 sometime.

Well, all I can say is that I have my fingers crossed for 2012.
