Incredibly hot, but the only movie worth a damn with her in it is Sin City...but like you said. To each their own.

This is something that I don't understand. People can't go to the movies alone anymore? It's not like it's a very sociable event. You can't talk with people that you go with during the movie. If anything, going alone just eliminates 5-10 minutes of companionship on route to and from the theatre.

I'll be going alone because I always prefer to focus on the film experience itself... no distractions (aside from any idiot teenagers in the crowd).

they should of stopped these after the first one. It just isnt "SAW" anymore, its just blood, torture, and crap stories.

Actually, I find that the films are doing a great job in creating more backstory for Jigsaw and the reasons for his actions. Each installment definitely gets more gory and violent, but they are becoming more compelling from a psychological perspective.

Indeed. I like how they're connecting all the lil plot points from previous films.

Or rather they keep making them for those who wish to see them. Not interested? Don't see it. Simple as that. Personally, I enjoy the whole mythology they've built around the series. I like how each subsequent entry picks up on little details from the earlier movies that you didn't notice the first time through. It makes re-watching the older ones after seeing a new one interesting too. I still remember thinking that part 3 wrapped everything up. Then I re-watched it after seeing part 4, and noticed all the clues and setups that were included for the next one. I love that! This is all IMO of course. All I know is I'll be there on Friday night, and looking forward to part 6 next year. To each his own indeed.

I agree. Don't want to rain in anyone's parade ... However, Saw IV was "horrible", and now SAW V?

Well I am as big of a Saw fan as anyone, but I have to admit, they are playing on repetition and formula more than anything else now. Anyone who has seen Saw 2 and onwards can agree, but check out the website

http://saw5.com

When you go to this website check out the clip they show you. It's the same torture game over and over again but with someone new.

I will say however, they reached the all time low with 4. I mean using the black swat guy that hardly said much of anything in the 3rd film was stupid. Then, the parts at the end of the 3 that were left unanswered didn't even get discussed in the fourth film let alone resolved.

I will say this however. I have heard recently that somehow Amanda's character and Danny Glover's characters should be in the 5th film. I checked it on IMDB and sure enough their characters were there. It could stock footage or it could be new footage. Who knows? But this should be interesting.

agree, I don't know why some people feel a need to go into a very clearly labelled thread just to say they arer not interested in watching that film. Now if they saw it and thought it sucked it is a different story, but why do they feel like promoting their pride in ignorance. There is a saying “ignorance is bliss” but that only stands for the person who is blissfully ignorant, to everyone else they just seem dumb.

Except that there's a reason he hardly said anything in part 3. One of the twists at the end of part 4 explains that. And besides, picking up minor characters and events from past entries and expanding on them is part of what I love about the series. It makes multiple viewings more enjoyable, IMO.

I agree that they should not be released in theaters after the first one, but straight to dvd would not be bad. Because it seems that everyone that sees it and enjoys it buys it.

What reason would that be? I mean I saw all 4. Yes, Jigsaw went after just bout everyone. But, there's something about picking the black swat guy as the main character that just didn't sit well. You have him as just a back up, insignificant character in the first couple and then you put all these subplots on him, and it just comes out of thin air.

If a movie can turn a large profit (or any profit actually) through theatrical release, then it should be released theatrically. Simple as that. Whether a movie is released in theaters or straight-to-video depends on how the distributor believes it will be most profitable. It is a business afterall.

Well, I was trying to avoid spoilers for any of the films, but alright. You'll notice that half the cast vanishes after the first few minutes of part 3. Hell, they even introduce a brand new character at the start of 3, only to have him vanish and not be heard from again for the rest of the movie. Rigg (the swat guy) and Hoffman (the new guy) are the stars of part 4. And as we found out at the end of part 4, part 3 and part 4 happen concurrently. Rigg was barely in 3 because he was busy with the events of 4 at the time. Also, Rigg was the last surviving ally of Det. Matthews from part 2. As that characters fate was one of the main plot points of part 4, Rigg was the obvious choice for that story.

Again, it's the way they weave all the movies together like that that will have me there buying a ticket for Saw V on opening night. YMMV

Yes, I saw all the films and own all of them. So, that wasn't necessary and it still doesn't answer the question. Just because he worked in the SWAT doesn't mean he should have been the main character. That was stretching it. And I am glad you are such a fan. I am too a certain extent. But, these films are in no way perfect and the choice of having Riggs as the main character proves that.

I don't think anybody would ever claim that the movies are perfect. It is the Saw series we're talking about afterall. But I fail to see how having Rigg as one of the leads proves it one way or the other. It was the natural next step in the Eric Matthews thread. Anyway, it really has no bearing on Saw V either way. Rigg won't be the star in part 5. Here's hoping the new one is a good one!
