Best/Worst Threequels - Blu-ray Forum

This thread might only last 10 or so movies, but what do people think are some of the best/worst 3rd movies in a series? Or what threequels do people think are better/much worse than the first 2?

It would be cool to hear about some movies that aren't as highly famous as the obvious Spidey3, Godfather, etc which come to mind, though this might only be a few movies. I think Bourne Ultimatum definitely lands on the best list...

Best:

Alien 3
Die Hard with a Vengance
LOTR: Return of the King

Mediocre:

Matrix Revolutions
POTC 3 At World's End
Star Wars Episode III or VI (depending on which way you look at it) lol.
Rambo III

Worst:

Godfather 3
Resident Evil: Extinction

Average: Spider-Man 3
Back to the Future 3

Worst: The Mummy 3
The Godfather: Part 3
Jurassic Park 3

also I might add The Toxic Avenger 3 the 4th one is way better

just remembered TREMORS 3! 2 wasn't even THAT terrible but 3 sunk it

Starship Troopers was great, but Starship Troopers 3 (Marauder) not so...

worst - saws 3,4, and haven't seen 5 but I'm sure its pretty awful

I actually liked 3 much more than the first one. Yes it was stupid, but the first was completely idiotic not matter what BS "deeper message" you want to credit it with. At least in the 3rd one, there wasn't the complete stupidity of landing a bunch of troops on the ground with weapons that were barely effective against the bugs. I also enjoyed the rather subversive ending when the new Sky Marshall realized it would be good to embrace religion because it provided an easy way to control the masses.

Did you ever see Tremors 4? It makes Tremors 3 look good.
