Machinist...

In its abscence I voted Rescue Dawn. I expect the reason for its low count of votes is due to its "below the radar" status. It sneaked in and I blind bought it due to the fact I like Bale, to find a gem of a story. He did really good work in this tale, very very good, second only to the Machinist in my eyes.

as good as he was in American Psycho and the Batman films, I have to go with 3:10 to Yuma, a very subtle, yet powerful performance

His work in The Prestige is incredible. He is great in most roles. If he hadn't been casted as Batman I would be begging Hollywood to cast him as Superman. Heck, he is such a good actor they should cast him as Superman anyway.

American Psycho but he is one of my favorite actors and has made alot of good movies this was a hard choice for me.

I like him in anything, but Equilibrium gets my vote. Underrated movie.

Write-in vote for "Boy" in the Branagh Henry V. Bale doesn't do much, but I can only imagine what a trip it must have been as a 14 or 15 year old actor to be surrounded by such an impressive array of talent...and Ian Holm's response to Bale's character's death at Agincourt is simply brilliant.

One of the things I've come to admire about Bale is that he didn't suck as a very young actor, and neither his talent nor his career have gone down the tubes as he's grown up.

I'd really like to see the made-for-TV version of Treasure Island in which Bale plays Jim Hawkins opposite Charlton Heston as Long John Silver.
