There was a better balance of game types on PS1 and PS2. There was definatly more platformers, and RPG, fighting games... but maybe time will prove better!

And FPS games definitely don't appeal at all to a lot of people too.

..more games utilizing the PSeye! I am amazed by Eye of Judgement, but I'm just no good at it! I really think Sony has something special with that technology, but they need to put out something else (besides all this useless "artsy" stuff on the PSN).

Oh the waiting game....

But they could at least release some Eye toys games like on the ps2 (I never tried those but they seems to be fun)

I agree. Completely. I hate FPS and LOVE RPG. But I realize the need for both. We just need a few more good RPGs on the PS3...

Ive grown to love FPS games, but I agree I miss RPGS (I have a massive PS1/PS2 rpg collection)

Thankfully FF13 and WKC should be out next year considering Japan gets them both this december, and Valkyria Chronicles, Eternal Sonata and Disgaea 3 are here to keep us busy in the meantime. 3 of those games are exclusives too.

Isnt there word of an exclusive MMORPG comming too?

DC Universe Online - with all the art direction done by the spectacular comic artist Jim Lee and the initial "Secret Origins" story arc of the game written by the incredibly popular DC writer Geoff johns.

Assuming thay don't botch the character creation and give it enough depth, this one is shaping up to be the LBP of next year (in my opinion).

Everything I've seen so far looks spectacular, but they have been pretty quiet with character creation and depth of powers available - which could kill all the other great stuff if executed poorly.

I was under the impression it was going to release late fall 2009. Considering the demo comes out March 2009.

Japan: demo in March, full game later in 2009. There's probably some trend in how long they usually take to release the full game after the demo.

Anyway, I thought this thread was about Sony's first-party influence. I don't think they have an FPS imbalance, just not enough RPG's.
