This may be elsewhere on the forums, but does anyone have a listing or a link of precisely what the difference is between the three types?

If I rip a CD onto my PS3 does the sound totally change from just playing a CD? I have my setting now at 320kbps. Is that the best setting to rip CD's at onto the PS3? Thanks

I was wondering the same thing. I can't tell the difference between the three different types. Does anyone know what the best way to rip cds to the hard drive?

You can only upsample from CD, so you lose that ability when you rip to the HDD.

Comparing a few different types of music, I found the CD direct to be the more pleasant experience.

make sure you do not have AAC checkmarked in the PS3 soundsettings.

Ah. Beautiful. Thanks for that as well.

Glad I upgraded my HD. The file sizes are a little bit bigger and take a bit longer to import to the PS3 now that I switched it.

Just hit the triangle button and go to Volume Control, and set it to 0.

I second that you guys here are great, I've learned more about my PS3 settings and lossless audio in the last week while reading up here than in the last year

About using the PS3 as a CD player - doesn't it use much more power than a reg CD player and aren't you guys concerned with burning up the player on the PS3 from so much usage, from CDs to blu-rays to games?
