That seems to be a bit of the consensus on here. Don't get me wrong, people on here said that they like watching the special features and all, but it seems that most people go mainly, or only, for the presentation quality. I wish the movie companies would understand that. While I still won't support it, maybe Total HD titles wouldn't be too bad on the BR side if it was just the main feature. Oh, I do really like the in-movie pop-up menu, that is a feature I find very nice. In the end, however, I could live w/out it.

I could probably count on one hand how many times I actually watched the "special" features on sd dvd. Mallrats was one it had a video commentary track
MI:2 was the only other one I remember watching, wanted to see how they did the motorcycle chase.
And for crying out loud stop putting HBO's first looks on the discs!!
Give me the best picture and give the option of DD & DTS. I loved the Superbit series of discs for that reason alone. Never even played the 2nd disc on any superbit deluxe 2-disc.

As far as I am concerned all special features can be eliminated, I just want the best picture and sound on Blu-ray. I buy the movie, not the special features.

For every movie I own regardless of format I have watched every single extra feature since I love extras. I would prefer only commentary tracks be placed on BLU-RAY movies and the extra features be placed on a second BLU-RAY disc to maximize quality.
In the past I have purchased HDTV D-VHS 1080I movies and standard Super Bit movies with no extras instead of the regular DVD version with extras. To make a long story short I would prefer the best picture and sound quality and the extras placed on second BLU-RAY discs to maximize the bit rate of the 50GB movie disc using high bit MPEG-4/AVC.
Hopefully BLU-RAY interactive features will appear on some players in the fall and the Matrix fans will be able to enjoy BLU-RAY with neat interactive features. The good news is the Matrix is coming to BLU-RAY but HD-DVD may get the movie 4 or 5 months sooner. Makes the format war a little more interesting. The HD-DVD owners might get all excited until they realize that BLU-RAY has better exclusive new releases.

I personally love special features (well, when they are on a disc of a movie I love) and I hope that more and more filmmakers now take advantage of HD picture and audio and do all of their making-of-featurettes and behind-the-scenes footage in high definiton.

I'm not totally against them. I still watch a few of them, like "making of" documentaries, like how bullet-time was done on The Matrix. I just see these as what they are, "extras," and when a DVD comes out that is just the movie and nothing else, it doesn't sway me in any way. The only time I'm upset is when a newer version of the movie will be released, like a "director's cut," or something where things are added back into the movie, except for the Special Ed. of Star Wars, of course.

I'm one who votes for extras (esp. HD extras) on Blu-ray disc movies.

I was always one to buy Superbit movies that were available for cheaper than the movies that had all of the added features...

all I want is great PQ and sound....

well i agree and disagree but i think we can all agree we buy Blu-ray movies for the movie first and for most with the high definition and audio being a given, but i also would like to see certain features included like deleted scenes and commentary. i enjoy getting insight on films at least on certain movies. The other big thing for me is extended versions of films (Dances With Wolves for example) why release the theatrical version instead? because they want you to buy both! and i can't stand when the movie studios do that. release both at the same time or included everything there is to include on one.

well right know almost every one is stuck in dvd mode extras which is the extras we get from dvd from hd dvd we have seen some more interesting extras. for example Tokyo drift(fast and the furious) i believe you could watch the movie or sences and something came up calculating the cost of damidg or p i p. but with blu-ray we will soon get bd-j which will only be limited by the prosesing power of the players. a possibility of this would be say a movie like eragon there could be a special feature installed were you watching the movie but then it switches to game mode were u have to navigate flying your dragon threw a battle. so right know extra features just sort of just give u something to watch after the movie.

Yeah, about the only thing I ever watch in the Extras on a DVD is the deleted scenes or sometimes the blooper reels. Occasionally I will watch a Making-of if the movie had some mind blowing SFX that I wanted to know how they did it, but thats pretty rare these days (its all CGI pretty much)

True, the more interactive features change the meaning of "supplemental materials," but an example such as yours is already out, in the video game release of Eragon. I suppose they could start merging the two together, but would people go for that? I'll admit it's a bit of a neat idea, but then "interactive features" just become short (and most likely not very good) video games.

I always look for deleted scenes and bloopers myself. As for other features, I do watch the commentary if I really liked the film.

Still I am pretty happy as long as there isn't a double dip. Just please package all the cuts of the film together! We have BD/multiple disks so we have space right?

I love watching extra features on the DVD's and now the Blu-ray Discs, but surely we don't need them while watching the film. In-Movie-Experience IME means that the extras detract from the movie IMHO.

I think The Matrix "Follow the White Rabbit" extra triggered this feature from what I can remember where you could hop (sorry) out of the film and watch the relevant extra.

Hopefully the pop-up menus are as far as the BD-J implementation goes on Blu-ray - that's all it really needs.

Yeah I think its crap but I also respect that they want both releases to be the same.Personally I only like Commentaries on DvDs and nothing else.If all movies just came with commentaries id be more then happy with the format.
I know the Bluray Release of Night at the Museum is coming with nothing but 2 commentaries and im super stooked,i could care less about all the other stuff.

I could really care less - especially if it delays releases. However, I did watch the extras on the Borat SD dvd, but only because I read somewhere that they are funny - which they were.

I watched the alternate ending on Rocky Balboa but was really disappointed with it. I was forced to watch it because my brother heard that it was a big deal. Again, it was disappointing. The real ending was much better.
